NRL 2026 Round 4 Discussion

Big call Iceworks, curious to see how it pans out for you.

So far 2/2 on the post-Panthers theory and this could be tough game for the Roosters to get up for.

It does have the right ingredients for a boil over.

I've got the Roosters winning, high scoring game 36-22 with a few soft tries and ill-discipline coming to the fore.
Well we all know who to follow for tips next time! Bad news is I have also tipped the Broncs this round.. geez poor Manly fans

Thought you were in with a show when Manly were up at half-time and the Roosters were down two players.

The game changed with that Toia try after half-time. Sydney won the early exchanges but Manly scrambled and did well to draw a penalty. Except they got zero reward from it as Sydney set their line, orchestrated a strip and before Manly knew what was happening Toia steps two to score.

It just unravelled from there and at 26-10, it was all over.

I don't think direct contact is anything that the judiciary cares about... it's force that they judge on... so it doesn't matter if it's primary or secondary contact.

Panthers mainly argued that he didn't go off for a HIA so how could the force be deemed moderate.

Hugo didn't go off for a HIA, so they could easily argue that the force wasn't moderate... this is now part of the precedent

Hugo was also falling, so they can easily argue mitigating factors... definitely falling more than the Cleary tackle.

Everything else is inline with the Cleary precedent.

I don't think they will contest the grading, because the argument for force will be hard just from the optics of it... but the independent Dr didn't pull him from the field... so it's there if they want it... thanks to Ivan
Challenge the grading for sure.

Cleary may have argued it was indirect contact, but the side on showed Nathan caught him flush and jumped in the tackle.

The only reason it was allowed to pass muster is because the prosecution was asleep at the wheel.

Worst case, Saab misses two weeks?

Best possible start from Manly, a try, a Roosters HIA, everything going their way and then Brooks turns it over and Manly spend the next 5 minutes or so defending their try line with multiple set restarts before the Roosters score.

This is why Cleary got away with a downgrade.
Saab's looks quite different.

Seibs giving off a bad vibe in the presser. It feels like he's almost wanting it to be over.
It's all familiar rhetoric to Broncos supporters. Lots of positives and improvements as the losses keep coming... Would have got beaten by 60 if they didn't fight so well... Never seen a guy so talented at getting positives out of a loss.

Just read that Roosters completed 50/52 sets and didn't concede a penalty, and won set restarts 6-3.

I was only half watching, but either their attack was actually pretty average or Manly scrambled pretty well really for it to even be close as long as it was with such a large discrepancy in possession.

rorters... the most penalised and ill disciplined team in the comp for the last 15 years... nah surely not

Sin bin for that is pretty crazy.

He clearly caught it in goal and wahs player knows that... it might've been a tactic because who cares about a penalty from the 20m line compared to a 7 tackle set and quick tap, which could create momentum.

Wahs this year are all about controlling momentum so I wouldn't put it past them to give away penalties on quick taps
