What now Gordy?

That try was brilliant halfback play.

On the tackle before he isolates Hammer to get him involved in the tackle and then whilst Hammer is at marker he moves miles wide on the next tackle to position himself perfectly between winger and a chasing Hammer for a perfectly weighted kick to space and scores the try.

You can't ask much more from a halfback in that situation... manufactured a try basically on his own in the space of 2 tackles

This is why I'll choose Reyno over Hunt at halfback.

Even if Reyno isn't playing well, he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Hunt doesn't and it's all left to Walsh to deliver.

The game was done, but I thought after Walsh's try-saver, coming up with the deliberate leg pull was going to end up as 10 in the bin.
Do you remember how long was left on the clock? If it was bugger all and they weren’t going to have enough time for a second try I can understand it. But that was my thought as well.

Klein wasn’t binning anyone after he had the chance with our line break. Katoa(?) made the worlds most obvious flop and instead Klein called a six again.

Waking up to the weekend after another win be like...
oh yeah GIF

He didnt call a 6 again on that play because it wasnt a flop if you watch it again. And Ashley definitely knows how to wave a 6 again.

1. Walsh - There were a lot of signs he is starting to hit top gear. He was involved early, was hitting holes and carrying defenders and that final tackle. Look out competition, 2025 Walsh might be making an appearance very soon but has a horror first 60 under the high ball - 7
2. Karapani - He has truly arrived, amazing value for money. He runs the ball with venom and is so reliable. A real quiet achiever that I’d argue is one of the first picked now. He has great acceleration and footwork, he must be a handful to defend - 8
3. Staggs - He was only from the start. He loves playing Herbie and it was a great battle all night. Herbie is elite but so is Toes, he has matured so much in recent years and scored some great tries tonight. He’s become mostly consistent which is pleasing - 8
4. Mariner - I thought he was excellent at both centre and wing. He has become such a good player but does look like he isn’t quite as quick as he used to be but on the flip side, much stronger. He has become a real weapon for us - 8
5. Anderson - A real shame he got injured, his defense is elite on the wing and was looking so safe at everything he does. Unfortunately he is likely to be out a while. Hard to score through no fault of his own - 5
6. Mam - The second weakest link in the team right now but stick with him because when it clicks, he will be elite. His defense is getting better and that’s really important because the attack will come but right now, he is not good - 4
7. Reynolds - Looked way off the pace early and timing was all wrong. He got up to speed about 20 mins in though and suddenly looked to be running freely and showed he still has the big boot. A very good performance with the challenge being to back it up now - 8
8. Jensen - He had a great first stint followed by an even better second one. I really wanted to put him in my top three players, he deserves to be there. We needed him to step up with Payne out and he did. An excellent value for money player - 8
9. Paix - I can see why Maguire loves him so much, honestly. He dos so much dirty work and because of his limited attack, he isn’t stifling our fullback or halves. He is turning into an 80 minute middle in the six again era, I think this ability is being massively underrated. You’re ability to defend is the be all and end all under this terrible version of league and he is great at it for a little guy, it gives your team options should injuries happen - 7
10. Willison - We got to see the future without Haas and Xman will allow us to sleep well. He is such a good player which huge upside. We are so lucky to have him ready to step up - 7
11. Piakura - How good is it having him back. He was really no frills in this game but quietly went about his business which makes him dangerous. He has such good footwork for a big man and gives us options that no other second rower on our list does. Love having him back - 7
12. Riki - Best player on ground two weeks in a row. Credit to the head gear, it makes him play like superman. He was in everything good once again in high defense and attack. Great pick chase pressure all game and some nice tidy up work as last man back at least twice - 9
13. Carrigan - We are burning him out because we don’t have anyone to help him but he is so good you can understand why. His fitness must be crazy, he’s often first or second one on a kick chase behind Riki and gets through a mountain of work - 9

14. Bunt - He came on as a middle, very much in the Smoothy mold. I like it because it is making Bunt learn new tricks and be more than held his own but not on long enough to score higher - 6
15. Talty - He’s been one of our best all year including being best on field in the WCC. He has been a fantastic replacement for Kobe and that flick pass will be spoken about for aeons to come. He is such a tough little nugget and runs with no thought of self preservation. He’s becoming a real cult hero - 8
16. Tawha - Shaded Mam for worst on ground unfortunately. He is really offering nothing for us. He looks slow, he looks unfit and that brain explosion pass cost us a try. He almost cost us giving up another with slow defense because he can’t play more than 20 mins right now. In this era you cannot carry someone like that, especially someone providing no impact. We have to have someone better surely, this guy right now is a glaring issue - 2
17. Shibasaki - He started awfully and had me shaking my head that Mariner was moved for him. Then something seemed to click and he started shutting Averillo down and pulled off a very impressive try, he had a lot of work to do and he did it. Some very good signs there the longer the game went - 6

Reyno was sublime last night. He silenced the people criticising him (myself included). Hoping he can maintain that form and stay injury free. That torp he kicked was fricken beautiful!!

In regards to that Tawha fella, I'm struggling to work out what he offers. He lacks fitness and agression. Seems almost disinterested out there. Is he really our next best option? There has to be some forwards in the reserve grade comps who show more commitment and enthusiasm. And surely are just dying for an opportunity non the NRL.

Yeah I’ve come round to this not being a sin bin.

I watched the replay on TV and the initial Dolphin tackler fell off Mariner. There was a six again though - offside?

Staggs has been mostly consistent? Come on. He's been anything BUT consistent this year. In fact, I'd say he's been in poor form to start the year.

Good game tonight but he needs to show me more.
