NRL 2026 Round 5 Discussion

Three things this scoreline shows:
1. No wonder O'Brien and Seibold are friends - they clearly both cannot coach
2. Holbrook has been WAY underrated as a few of us have said for a while
3. We broke Canberra last year like Penrith did to us in 2023
Broke the Raiders, broke the Storm, broke the Panthers too who have clearly turned into a bunch of overcompensating try hard weirdos in response...

wonder if we will see black play first grade in the coming weeks. this halves pairing for the raiders are just not working. both talented players but they are not gelling well at all

gotta say newcastle are impressive this year. question asked though is what the hell do they do with hunt and sharp when brown and ponga are back.

those 2 alone are a huge reason for the resurgance this year

Stick them in reserve grade for the next injury.

Edit: Wait, sorry doesn't Sharp partner Dylan in the halves anyway? So it's only Hunt that they would have to worry about.

Great headache to have. You’d say Sandon to the bench but Graham’s been excellent too

newcastle board seriously must be kicking them selves on shelling out that much for brown.
so much wasted cap space on a player that i feel is still greatly overrated. feels like sharp has shown so much more in his limited nrl time compared to brown

Newcastle are going to be a force when they get Ponga, Brown and Sharpe all on the field.

In a season where a bit of speed in and around the ruck is causing carnage, they're a smoky.

He ran the ball today, scored a try, stepped inside and beat the cover defence- that's good.

Raiders got beaten by 1- that's bad.

Raiders Cup is in last place- that's bad.

Panthers Cup beat the Storm 40-12 and Flegg won 34-26.

Panthers 124 Storm 48 across three games.

Flegg boys will get flogged today for allowing 26 points and letting the whole club down.

Pretty unreal turnaround by the Knights so far this season. Especially considering they've got no Ponga or Brown. Holbrook looks like he can coach. The knights look so well drilled.

Makes you wonder what the hell happened at the Titans for Holbrook

I don't think they really had the cattle for a lot of his time there. Plus some lazy players, looking at you DFifi. But yeah, they should have done better than what they did. Consistency was always their problem, it will be interesting to see if the Knights can keep it up or if they will start see-sawing as well.

You’d have to think the Tigets winger had money on that given how bad he ****ed up
