I was haha also a lot of others.I thought you were quoting Cobbo for a second there. haha
But seriously, Kev was exactly what this club needed post spoon. Fixed our culture. Cut some dick-heads. Instilled some values in these young blokes.
They failed in '23 because they lacked some tools in their kit, mental toughness, a hard edge that only comes through battle scars and predominantly fitness.
Kev was the cake, Madge was the frosting and toppings. Everyone comes for the frosting and toppings, but they ain't shit with out a decent cake to hold it together from the get go.
So you are saying that McGuire is the Siebold to Kevin Walters?Maguire reminds me of Chris Fagan, the Lions coach and you know how much I love the Lions. We are back as a powerhouse thanks to Maguire. I just don't want Kevvie's SIGNIFICANT contributions to be forgotten.
Its because of Kevvie we got Reynolds. Kevvie is who got Piaks to stay. Kevvie's assistants were who Maguire used to win the premiership.
If Madge was coaching in 23 I'm not sure we make the grand final.. the 23 90's style Broncos is how Kev coached them and let guys like Walsh, Ezra, Reynolds play like they did.So you are saying that McGuire is the Siebold to Kevin Walters?
Many people were not sold on kev's appointment. He did bring us back from Siebold, but that is just such a low low benchmark. Great football in 23, very 90's Broncos.
Maybe talk to the playing group around Kevin Walters, they would be the best judge; did he lose the dressing room?
Anywayz, Madge bagged a 2nd GF as a coach. Has the team winning when they shouldn't, and defense is a strong point. The amount of players standing up in an injury crisis, is a stark contrast to season 24.
This is Madges team, and they look tough and dangerous. Madge would have won the 23 GF.
The Penrith comparison is a good one. Kev is the Hook and Madge the Ivan ClearyBoth as important as each other IMO
Kev built the culture, he got these guys loving the club and showed them what a Bronco was all about.
I don't think Madge gets Reynolds here and read a story recently on how he stopped Piakura from going to the dogs.
What Kev built might win you one premiership (we nearly did) but it won't keep you at the top, you can only go for so long on talent and emotion.
Madge has came and brought everything needed to get to the top and stay there.
Kev had this group when they were younger and less mature and he was probably the perfect coach for that time, Madge has the group now where they are ready for what he brings.
You don't have Dynasties like what Penrith have achieved without the work both coaches have done.
Kev was 100% what we needed at the time. The morale at the club was at an all time low. Kev bought the pride, and feel good back into the Broncos. If our 2025/2026 team played Penrith in the '23 GF, we would of beaten Penrith comfortably. The mental toughness, hard edge and fitness we have is all thanks to Madge Maguire. I would absolutely run through a wall for Madge, he brought home our 7th title, we waited 19 years for that and it really is all Madge. A memory and feeling I'll never ever forget. And look at us now, in 2026, we have a trillion players out and we're beating top teams with 80% of our team missing. Madge is the ****ing General and Leader we needed to turn our boys into men. Madge has actually turned us into a systems team and I can't believe it when I'm watching games at times. It's so great to see.
In saying that, I do agree that Kev is what we needed at the time. I'm so thankful for what he's done for us as a player and a coach, he definitely deserves credit also, no doubt about that.
Kev deserves respect for turning a wooden spoon club into playing in a GF contender in a few seasons. Kev pick us up from the floor, but Madge has equally transformed the Broncos.
The challenge for Kev, is the same as it was for Madge with respect to learning from your mistakes. Madge has learnt, I'd like to see Kev have that oppotunity.
Duffy came in and did an excellent job filling in for reyno just a couple of games ago. Was super unlucky not to come away with the win. Kicking was excellent pass selection was good. Im backing this guy to be our guy moving forward. On a side note, is anyone else a little concerned about our halves next season? Losing Reynolds means losing great control and leadership. I don't feel good putting Pezet in there next to Mam. Pezet is so inexperienced.
Solution is keeping Hunty for 1 last season playing 7 and having Pezet learn from Reynolds (coaching staff) and Hunty as well as Trent Barrett. Feels right. Smoother transition.

Is pezet even playing NRL atm?Duffy will be in the mix .
When I see Pezet play on the right and not miss tackles then I might start to believe in him .
