2026 NRL Player Movements & Rumours

I hope there are at least some actual png people in the team, otherwise it just becomes storm 2.0

I am really confident they will have:
Ipape (almost certain)
Johnston (confirmed)
Xoates (almost certain)
Poates (almost certain)
Lam (pretty confident)
Qareqare (confident)
Morea (almost certain)
Martin (pretty confident)
Horne (pretty confident)
Derby (almost certain)
Voro (almost certain)

There are a few others around too like Simbikin, McDonald, Laybutt who will definitely be inquired about.

They said on NRL 360 that the Johnston signing was a false start and wasn't actually correct ... although they are confident he will sign

But yeah this is a major disservice to Perth. If you are a marquee player, you are going to get an offer from both Perth and PNG. Moving to either is much of a muchness when it comes to how far you will be away from home. On top of that, you are being coached by Peters or Meninga.

So:
PNG can offer WAY more money with probably free housing and no tax
PNG offers a WAY better coach
PNG is not much different in terms of travel really to Perth and no doubt the PNG government or Australian government will make these free or super cheap as well

Perth is being set up to fail here.

Depends how many 6 agains they get I guess?

Jk, not one for conspiracies in actual games.

Imagine being involved with the Perth team right now and seeing what is happening with PNG. This tax free things is kind of a big deal.

It was crazy to have both teams joining within a year of each other. They are competing for all the same Marquee players and one essentially has double the money to spend. But then the NRL didn't give Redcliffe extra money/advantage or anything (that im aware of, could be wrong), so they were never going to give that to Perth. Its going to be a rough first few years for the bears of getting flogged.

From what I have seen with the Bears signings I think they have done a good job with the names... just that they also appear to be overpaying!? Extra years is as bad as extra dollars. Which is just going to lead to problems.

Not sure if this PNG expansion team was well planned. It's going to be interesting to watch for sure. Not giving Perth some benefit appears to be a poor decision, Redcliffe you can understand as they had awesome pathways and plenty of backing.. Perth though!?

CURRENT BEST SQUAD - Bears 27'

1. Nick Meaney (Melbourne Storm)
2. Apa Twidle (Parramatta Eels)
3. Harry Newman (Leeds Rhinos)
4. Sean Russell (Parramatta Eels)
5. Luke Laulilii (Wests Tigers)
6. Tyran Wishart (Melbourne Storm)
7. Toby Sexton (Catalans Dragons)
8. Liam Henry (Penrith Panthers)
9. No player signed
10. Mikolaj Oledzki (Leeds Rhinos)
11. Scott Sorensen (Penrith Panthers)
12. Siosifa Talakai (Cronulla Sharks)
13. Josh Curran (Canterbury Bulldogs)
14. Emarly Bitungane (London Broncos)
15.Luke Smith (London Broncos)
16. James McDonnell (Leeds Rhinos)
17. Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui (Catalans Dragons)
18. Chris Vea’ila (Cronulla Sharks)
19. Kit Laulilii (Wests Tigers)

If this is accurate, its not as bad as I thought it was. Also not great by any stretch.

I'm surprised Rogers hasn't signed with them. He was born in Perth, played all his juniors there and moved over here when he was like 18.

Tyran Wishart actually signed as a hooker. that's where he wants to play.

doesn't mean he'll play there of course

3.0

Bears better hurry up and sign Rogers otherwise you lot will chuck a tizzy.

The difference though is that PNG is league heartland, it’s their national sport and they have a Q Cup team. Perth will need time even though they have a bit of a pathway network set up, it’s a big gap from there to NRL.

Of course if 20 years from now they are A. Still around and B. Not producing juniors, the. Yes they too will be well and truly getting bagged.

But back on topic here, yeah PNG’s advantages are potentially landscape changing. They might well run out an all star team their cap is so advantageous over everyone else.

Tigers are better without him.
He is a total tool and dirty too.

Adam is the main man.

Toby was a better signing for Perth.....

But time will tell.

lol OK, you sound exactly like how non-broncos talk about Walsh. 🤷‍♂️

just say you don't like him haha, thats fine

I was worried when Luai went off in the 23 GF, because the handbrake was gone.

We were leading at the time too, and we all know what happened from there

He’s also played in the Tigers only losses this year, albeit that’s a small sample size, but still an indication of things.

Dude is overrated as hell
