Heartbreaking how quickly life can get you. I remember him doing on field interviews in the final rounds, and seeing a video go viral when he won South's best player and he was extremely emotional. It makes sense now 💔.

6 months later he's struggling to speak, swallow, and keep his nasal/sinus passages moving without manual intervention. Even a month ago he was speaking well, just kinda sounded like he had a sore throat or bad head cold.
 
The NRL needs to come out and dedicate a round to this disease or at least sync up with the AFL and integrate what they're doing into a round in our code as well. Ideally the same weekend. Make it a national event.

If you get cancer you're a better chance of living, ffs. I still feel like someone punched me in the gut hearing this news about Jai Arrow.
 
It could take a long time for studies to be completed, especially in Jai’s case. For a 30 year old to get MND is very rare. Carl Webb got diagnosed at 38. The average onset age to get MND is between 50-75. I would love to see some studies done on how a young person gets MND and if league had any impact on them having it so early. Or maybe they were always going to get it and league sped up the illness, who really knows. But I hope funding and research is being done.

It’s such a cruel and painful disease and there’s nothing you can do about it to stop it. Just so unfair. Seeing him with his baby is so heartbreaking, especially with the unfortunate reality that she possibly will not have a memory of him.
 
Always a player I’d hoped we get back. Especially during our darker days, where his absence was most felt.

That being said, it feels almost silly to talk about something as trivial as footy when you are reminded of what is truly important in life.

Cant even begin to imagine a second of being in his shoes without shuttering.

It's too much of a coincidence how many of the people that are alive right now that have this condition and were/are involved in some sort of contact sport. Particularly the ones that would be in their 30's presently or around that age bracket.

Lou Gehrig, NY Yankee, was probably the first sports "celebrity" to get it in the 1930's. He started experiencing symptoms when he was 35, retired the next year and died a couple of years later.
