POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

Also the fight had already happened and been broken up. Joey stepped around a few people including the ref to start it up again.

Game day! Actually pumped for tonight's game. Thinking qld win, and win well!

Qld 56 - NSW 6

Also hope Staggs does well in a losing side.

Cleary has a 47 per cent winning record at Origin level with an 8-9 record across seven series, but has failed to win all three game-three deciders during his career.

For context, Blues great Andrew Johns had a 56 per cent winning rate but did not play halfback in a series-winning NSW team until the 20th appearance of his 23-game Origin career.

If I recall the immortal had to play hooker in his early days .
A #7 named Kimmorely was NSW #7 .

The "immortal " tried to start a fight at a scrum and got the shit punched out of him by Kobe`s dad .
Before Kimmorley there was Toovey who played the dummy half role despite being named at 7.

So I'd give Joey 1996.

I don't know if I could care less about Origin. Don't get me wrong I will happily yell at the tv as I watch it but I doesn't do it for me. All I want is Broncos Premierships injected into my veins.

It amuses me every year how the discussion around NSW is nearly always about Nathan Cleary, particularly when they lose.

Yep. And now if NSW get carried to a victory and he does something vaguely impressive on the field they will carry on like he is indeed the GOAT.

Amongst the Origin greats they are still jerking off over "Smith, Slater & Thurston", but they conveniently ignore the guy, the Captain no less, that was at the crossroads in '06. Who was about to be dumped from rep duties because NSW were on the verge of winning a massive 3-in-a-row. And who jagged the winning play in the decider and started the 8-in-a-row dynasty, captaining Qld to the first 6 of those before retiring. But yeah, Daddy's Boy is the goat, sure.

Skill-wise, Nathan Cleary is better compared to the Brett Kimmorley's and Craig Gower's of the NRL world. If you give them the same benefits, same team and the same reffing Cleary has they'd be doing the same thing. It's the same reason the Panthers can most of the time just bring in a nobody at halfback and still win.

Lockyer is the most skillful player I've ever seen and he's already been demoted in the Immortal talk by a bunch of Melbourne cheats who combined have the same skillset as Lockyer alone. It's a fake award like the Dally M's and means absolutely nothing.

The Immortal award lost credibility a long time ago. I have zero doubt that Johns would have been made an immortal at some stage (rightly or wrongly) but 5yrs or whatever it was after retirement was an absolute load. Players should be retired 15yrs minimum IMO. If people are still talking about your exploits at that time, then sure.

That said, with a lot of these guys getting gigs in the media these days it's going to ensure they're always being talked about anyway I guess.
