POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

The Immortal award lost credibility a long time ago. I have zero doubt that Johns would have been made an immortal at some stage (rightly or wrongly) but 5yrs or whatever it was after retirement was an absolute load. Players should be retired 15yrs minimum IMO. If people are still talking about your exploits at that time, then sure.

That said, with a lot of these guys getting gigs in the media these days it's going to ensure they're always being talked about anyway I guess.
So Scott minto should be the next immortal

Has anyone ever met Lockyer and hung out with him? Maybe he’s a complete asshole or something because it doesn’t make sense if they don’t select him for immortal status at some point. If smith and slater get in at some point before him i’d say Lockyer never will…Anyway, they never even took the status off graham langlands which is pretty ordinary, who would wanna be associated with them anyway.

He's not from the blue state

Lmao the desperation from the NSW media to try and gee up Cleary is so pathetic. If anything they are just putting more pressure on him.

Remember years ago they were convinced they were gonna go on a dominant streak because they had David klemmer and he had a pretty good debut.

I'm actually indifferent about tonight. Which is sad, because I used to love Origin, almost as much as the Broncos. The game has declined to the point I don't really care about tonight - I'm sure I'll be animated during the game but it doesn't "feel" like anything much. I'm more hoping it doesn't derail our season any more, but even that is a bit 'meh'. I think my love for the game is actually legitimately gone.

And just about everyone I speak to is the same, Maroon or Blue. No-one really gives a ****, everyone wil watch it because it's Origin, but the game in general is bleeding interest at a horrific rate.

IIRC that was before they came up to Suncorp and the crowd pretty much shook their souls.

Yeah, I’m watching but don’t really care.

Same. I just wish the game would start now and we can get it over it. All this pointless build up pre-game is such a waste of time.

It’s interesting how many people are saying exactly this.

I still care a fair bit, but it’s definitely not the same level of intensity.

The problem is the NRL doesnt measure the attitudes of people watching, but if ignored, the decline of viewership will be sharp and the seed has already been planted and is starting to sprout.

I used to love it. I used to be excited for it by Monday and couldn’t wait. Now I just think of it as watching the titans vs knights or something. If I had something better to do I’d do that.
