But that's specifically my point. He's got to be big enough to be able to handle that - and can't.

If ARey missed it, no-one would care because that's not what ARey's job is. This guy chose to be a middle of the park defender. This is the job!

Literally doesn't matter if getting Paix out of the attack gets us another 12-18 points if we leak another 3-4 tries up the guts.

We do the most red zone defending of anyone - so if you can't handle the job when your back is to the try line, they'll just line you up and keep scoring all day.

There's a reason why he's played 9 games across 3 seasons. Injury is probably a big chunk, but the remainder can't even crack the bench. There's a reason....

With Billy coming back into the squad, Buko looking like a brighter prospect, Paix extended... he's done for mine. Too many hookers, he's clearly well down the pecking order and Buko's got a couple more years to go on his side.
Well this is a dumb take the reason he cant crack the side is because madge doesnt have the balls to either drop paix or hunt i 100% think if he came from the bench he would provide a better impact than hunt

He was on the field for like 10mins and decided to throw his body in front of a rampaging Lolo that had already built up speed... despite it being a bad idea as it was 1v1.

A guy that gets criticised for his defence puts his body on the line and came out injured.

He could've sat back and made a "business decision" to try and catch him, maybe get bumped off, but then people would be blowing up that "he missed the tackle!!! sack him"... damned if you do damned if you don't

Both his broken jaws have been because he's standing in front of guys bigger than him and not moving. Leslie ducked his head up and the top of his head got Mozer's cheek- complete accident and nothing to do with Mozer's size it would have happened to anyone.

How do you say Bukowski looks brighter when he can't make Wynnum's starting team 50% of his Cup career? 15/32 games off the bench.

You could use the same argument against him that you're using for Mozer.

Bukowski just did his shoulder defending in the middle too.

You're right Madge should have definitely dropped one of our fit players for a guy with a broken jaw ... That certainly would have improved our performances

Speaking of dumb takes!

Michael Maguire, a career coach, success wherever he goes (Tigers excepted), unchallengeable record......

Doesn't make a change that a fan thinks he should, and you think the reason can only possibly be that he knows it needs to be done but doesn't have the stones?

That'll do me

This is my issue with the six-man bench, Duffy is now expected to play having not played 80 minutes since April 10 v the Cowboys.

70 minutes v Falcons- April 26 (sin bin for trip)
36 minutes v Roosters-2 May
20 minutes v Manly- 9 May

Not a minute of football in a month and hardly any football since the end of April. Players and clubs are going to have to handle this situation.

Plus, we saw Pezet's struggles at 6. Duffy is a clear 7, can he even play 6?

I must be missing something. Was he injured after the manly game? Surely if he is available he at least plays Qcup.
If he is not getting picked for Qcup how could he be good enough for NRL?

Most of it would depend on when his QLD cup side plays.

If it played before or on the same day as the NRL side he wouldn't be available to play for them as he was on NRL duty.

He would literally only be available to play QCup if they played after the NRL side. He could get to wherever they were playing in time and he played less than 15 minutes in the NRL

Duffy has shown he can play both sides of the field, so it isn't a question of if he can play 6. It is if Reyno gets in the way, or overcalls potential plays.

Not to mention, all he really needs to do is give Walshy / Anderson space, and a few nice lines for JGos to run.

And not sure if it has been posted, but Patty out for 5-6 weeks, needing surgery on his ankle.

As I said before, I hate that they prefaced the "Early indications" in the initial injury report. Never a good sign.

The two draws aren't aligned, so he sat on the line against the Tigers but then couldn't get back to play Toowoomba in Toowoomba.

Didn't play against the Bulldogs then played for Souths on Sunday against Falcons.
Didn't play against Warriors but Souths played PNG in PNG.
Souths played before the Broncos last week then he doesn't get a run for Broncos on Sunday against Dragons so no football.

He's got time. Couple of years younger than Mozer, far broader in the shoulders and already looking bulkier - with plenty of time to fill out.

I'm more calling out Blake's small frame (not height) as being the challenge defending particularly against these big islanders in the middle. Paix is smaller height wise than Blake but is a far more effective against the big men.

It seems that the current coaching staff seem to also hold concerns here, playing paix for 80 over bringing him on in the game before the one where he broke his jaw.

I'd love nothing more than for him to have a breakout season and succeed - I just don't think it's going to happen for him. Extending Paix was kind of the final nail in the coffin for mine.

I’ll come back to this comment I think he will be a elite hooker just give him more opportunities

Bukowski is only one year younger than Mozer.
