POST GAME [Round 14, 2026] - Broncos vs Titans

I thought Duffy looked good when he got out there, just did the basics, hit the winger with a nice pass. We need some consistency around our spine.

Walsh is rocks or diamonds, Ezra is that way too. I'd rather not be that kind of team.

Yeah Bunt can still hang on as a 7 but he can’t as a 9 next year. But with losing Haas, it’s a good time to move to the future.

On our R&R team, yeah it’s been an issue for years, that is definitely an area last year papered over.

This is the Broncos team running around elsewhere (2027):

1. Gray
2. Xoates
3. Gagai
4. Farnworth
5. Cobbo
6. Dearden
7. Walker
8. Haas
9. Plath
10. Flegler
11. Capewell
12. Hosking
13. Hetherington

14. Kikorima
15. Collins
16. Bullemor
17. Fifita
18. Simpkin
19. Anderson

Now obviously you can’t keep them all but some of those definitely could have been kept.

And don’t forget, two blokes on our current team also left and came back, one being our best player - Walsh, Bunt

Not a bad side when you can leave out Isaako who has been one of the best and most reliable wingers in the comp at the Phins.

Time for some changes this season and roster overhaul next. We are down this season, losing to the 3 lowest teams at home is an embarrassment to the fans.

Get rid of Paix, offers nothing in attack. Give Mozer a crack, shift Hunt to lock for some ball playing with Patty out and move Willison back at prop or edge. We need a strike second rower next season, someone who can bend the line, attract defenders and offload. Go for Martin or Nikora.
Wouldnt resign Hunt for 500k, offer 200k or retire. Build around Duffy, Pezet and Mam.
Haas is gonna be sorely missed, need another prop. Barnett is good but in the twilight of his career. Can't believe we paid 800k for 3 years.
Where has our attack gone? Would like to see more offloads. Dolphins look much better than us.

You're also missing Jadyn Sua.

Out of that list Plath is the one that might annoy me the most.

You could see the talent in his early trial games and he's exactly what we need to reduce the load on Patty and we'd be getting 50mins a game out of him spread across lock and hooker... he even plays a bit of second row.

It's like they went ... well Patty is our long term lock and you only ever have one lock on the field at a time, so what position would Plath even play for us

I don't see that team list as a big deal, look at this:

Panthers
1. Isaiah Iongi
2. Sunia Turuva
3. Matt Burton
4. Stephen Crichton
5. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
6. Jarome Luai
7. Isaiya Katoa
8. Terell May
9. Api Koroisau
10. James Fisher-Harris
11. Viliame Kikau
12. Kurt Capewell
13. J'maine Hopgood

14. Wayde Egan
15. Jaeman Salmon
16. Spencer Leniu
17. Zac Hosking
18. Shawn Blore
19. Te Maire Martin

That's just off the top of my head.

I don't have an issue with retention. I do have an issue with the depth and that comes down to the pathways and development.

I don't think Plath trialled. He was on a training contract and vying for a spot in the halves. I think he may have suffered an injury and slowly made his way back onto the field as a bench utility.

In a losing effort against the Dolphins, Plath was sublime at lock and the Dolphins didn't hesitate signing him.

Maybe the Broncos should have seen something during the training contract but by that point it was always going to be difficult. The Dolphins offer was always going to be more lucrative.

Plath always had something about him dating back to Colts.

Thought Anderson was excellent last night; he is such a selfless player. After his game for Wynnum where he put Verhoeven into gaps galore on debut I just thought he'd be perfect for the Broncos- I never noticed it at the Storm, but he was the perfect partner for a young player or player down on confidence and again last night

Karapani made three line breaks last night and Verhoeven hasn't gone anywhere near the numbers he got in round one.

If you had 17 Andersons you'd come third every year.
And we are letting him go. Whose dumb idea is that .?

Wonder what Reyno was alluding to in the presser when he said things going on behind the scenes which would be sorted.
Didn't see the game as I was on nightshift but saw that in the presser and thought the same thing too.

Like his old man.

Injuries have stuffed us. Our forward depth is non existent,we need to get rid of the plodders. And get someone who can step up when needed
The problem is we have the same pack running around next year too, if you look at out top 30, there is 9 in there i think that add very little value in respect to holding a top 30 contract.

J Hunt
J Gosiewski
Hoeter (respect he has been injured)
J Rodgers (only based on he never plays)
Te Kura (is he actually still contracted?)
Shiba

This is just 6 that I feel we need to move on and actually replace with NRL standard players. If all these guys moved on would it really be felt, just feel the squad management is so out of Whack and $ are not going in the right areas?

Yeah we used to have the whole of Qld to pick from and despite dumb commentators still spewing this falsehood, it feels like a pathways team have not come out of the 90s. We just seem so slow to move compared to other sides.

He played a trial game against the Broncos for Wynnum but never for the Broncos.

He was only a six-week deal, and he wanted to be a half. Until he played lock for Wynnum against the Dolphins, which was just dumb luck it was against Redcliffe and scored two tries, he'd never played anything by half in his other 17 Cup games.

Dolphins made him an offer the next day.

I still dont think we just produce solid, reliable workhorse players. Maybe its just me, but i feel we are always looking for the superstar rather than the solid option.

Also, @Big Pete how about the head to head, you think this is fair?

Panthers
1. Isaiah Iongi (Panthers)
2. Xavier Coates (Broncos)
3. Herbie Farnworth (Broncos)
4. Stephen Crichton (Panthers)
5. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (Panthers)
6. Tom Dearden (Broncos)
7. Isaiya Katoa (Panthers)

13. Kobe Hetherington (Broncos)

14. Wayde Egan (Panthers)
15. Tom Flegler (Broncos)
16. Lindsay Collins (Broncos)
17. David Fifita (Broncos)
18. Max Plath (Broncos)
19. Selwyn Cobbo (Broncos)

10-9 Broncos but maybe I'm being biased.

As you highlighted too though, Penrith have replaced their outs with the likes of Smith, Kenny, McLean, Papalii, Alamoti. We've replaced our outs with...not much.
