Probably because you are the worst side in the group. Saying that, you never know in a world cup if you get a bit of luck and momentum. USA have been shocking lately even though they have some good players. I could see you upsetting them, and Paraguay who knows.

Worst side but not by much IMO.
look at our 3 previous groups comparatively. france and denmark the last two and before that, spain and netherlands.
none of the teams in our group are remotely close to the aforementioned. we have a real shot. and we somehow managed to make the 2nd round in 2022 even with denmark and france in the group.

I think You guys had slighgtly better players back then. Its a very ordinary side imo these days.
The other sides in the group have some good attacking players, which i just dont think the Aussies have. Turkiye should win the group comfortably i reckon. As you said though, you need to shithouse your way to results because i just dont think there are enough goals in this side.

Yeah turkey is clearly the best side and the group and should qualify with the team they have, but they aren't giants either.
I wouldn't say our side is necessarily any better or worse than 2022 IMO. We didn't exactly have any real standouts then either. I think best side isn't equiv to cohesion though. Won't really know that until a ball is kicked.
Our best side was 20 years ago. Nothing's really come close then.

there are also reports that the Trump administration has denied visas to many of the Iran support staff. Players can apparently enter the US to play but have to base themselves in Mexico. the can enter the US for matches the day before each game, but must leave immediately after it has concluded.
