POST GAME [Round 15, 2026] - Broncos vs Rabbitohs

This was basically confirmed in 2007 that Berro didn't have a lot going on at 9 unless he could run it. His service was poor and barely gave his playmakers any time.

To me, he was a great player who happened to play hooker as opposed to a great hooker.

The key with Macca in '15 is that he had Kodi there at 14 to come on and provide the team with some spark. It allowed him to be more effective when he was on the field albeit he didn't step up as much as he should have.
Macca was a dud……for 9/10ths of his career.

8 premiership winners in Mariner, Staggs, Walsh, Shibasaki, Haas, Carrigan, Jensen, Walters were unavailable tonight.

Mam and Reynolds then go down mid game. Jordan Riki is also playing injured and was probably rushed back from his foot injury too early.

That's 11 premiership winners from last year's 17, gone.

Given the above, we've had no opportunity to create consistency or connection and it shows; we're just so bad.
Souths were brave last year

Look at the 3 most successful teams in the past decades. Panthers, Storm and Roosters.

They all have SET rotations.
With the exception of Panthers having Yeo as an 80 minute lock. They only rotate props and lock every 20 minutes or so
And have a backup half/hooker/lock in utility...

Madge won't even do that.

Literally take tonight.

Willison, Priki and Rogers and we swapped them out for
Willison, Talty and Bunt.
And Madge somehow expected us to control the game with that?

If you are going to play Willison for 80. Then move him to lock when Rogers goes out.

And offload the tackle and run meters, primarily to JGos and Talty. For 30 minutes MAX (spread over halftime)

Then last 25 minutes, you bring on the OG lineup. With Bunt as a possible wildcard lock.

But instead, he tries to get fancy with the spine...NO OTHER TEAM DOES THIS MADGE

Rugby league pundits hate injured teams. What’s to talk about? ‘Why is Mariner injured?’ They have to craft a different story to the obvious.
Unless they're a plucky little underdog protagonist... then its all life's so hard

But if you're an antagonist then it's all.. "everyone has injuries, but what has happened to our premiers Michael Ennis"

Get ready for bitter disappointment my friend. Jai is in for nothing short of a ****ing nightmare as tragic as that is. MND is a top 10 "**** that" ways to go.
Yeah as we all know unfortunately it’s such a rapid disease that sucks the life out of you when you least expect it. MND is absolute torture, wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I hope he is able to create special memories with his family while he’s still able to walk and move because we know how much worse it’s going to get. I listened to their interview a few weeks and his partner talked about trying to having a sibling for their daughter and it broke my heart. Time is really so precious, you just never know when it’ll all change

It must be frustrating for the players. Yes, they all learn the same structure, but when you build combinations in defense and attack over time, you learn the nuances of the players next to you. And you basically lose your combinations in game and weekly lol
Remember 2024? We couldn’t finish a half without losing someone. Reynolds and Mam played a third of a season as our starting halves. The story? ‘The Broncos lost the grand final, that’s why they’re having a bad season’
Then you have the media gas lighting you. "Your injuries aren't that bad" literally haven't had full strength side since round 5.

The Premiership defence, yes, is still alive mathematically... but barely ****ing breathing.

Rant over. Goodnight everyone. I will be dreaming that Madge will change his ways after the bye round. But in the meantime..

Go QLD!

Sometimes it’s plain ignorance (there are people, including former players, who genuinely don’t seem to realise when a team is playing fourth-string development players), but compare how Souths were treated last year to how we are now.

Nah they know... they choose to not say it because it doesn't suit the narrative

Its a touchy subject but given the prior form - not sure how I feel about Madge's injury management.

Riki coming back so quickly and doing his foot again. Mam doing his shoulder but left out there for ages. Haas playing 80 mins immediately on return, Mariner's cork.

Gotta take a longer-term view of players and not try to win every game

Seeing Jai Arrow in the sheds with his team mates around him singing the team song made the loss worth it.
