IF Hodgo is going to the Dolphins, I don't really want him around our kids, massive conflict of interest there.

He has been at the Dolphins since the start of the year, assistant to Mogg with Scott Hill. He never gave up his full time job of working with the Broncos.

I thought hodges missed out on the Dolphins coaching role

Correct, he didn’t get Mogg’s job but he’s still been coaching at the Dolphins since January and working at the Broncos.

Yes but at the start of this year, Redcliffe wasn't going to be the 17th NRL team.

Time to crack out a new thread, for us 2021 is done.

2022 Ins:
Reynolds, Capewell, Pereira, James, Jensen, Lee, Walters, respect

2022 Outs:
Milford, Coates, Isaako (likely), Pangai, Lodge, Glenn (retired), Kennar, Bullemor, ??
And we have Erza Mam signed up.

Mahoney is not happening. Paix is.
Paix has probably earned a shot and he has far improved. Makes you wonder exactly where they plan on spending their money though if they don’t see a hooker as a required purchase when about 4 of the best hookers in the comp are available.

With Paix (then Mozer), Mam, and Cobbo you have a potentially very good spine in a few years but I’m skeptical of placing all hope on promising juniors again and they are all about 2 to 3 years off of being complete players.

unless our cap is even worse than I thought.

I think we will probably look at possibly a top winger tbh. We havent had that since Oatsey was in top form. I'm tipping Mulitalo will be a Bronco in 2023.

Interesting point and you may be right. Mulitalo would be a good buy on the right money. Our outside backs have been a bit of a mess in recent years except for Staggs (when fit).

I thought he had only recently re-signed but I could be wrong.

Yeah I rate Mulitalo very highly… If we get Mulitalo we have Cobbo, Mulitalo, Staggs, Mariner/Niu, Farnworth as our backs… a lot of strike power there and would be great if we aren’t likely to snag a hooker and there aren’t really any good 6’s on the market (Cobbo has ticked off the fullback demand)

An article on fox sports quoting Parker as saying that with one of our open spots for 2022 we need to sign a hooker because otherwise we're in trouble if Turps goes down.

the author (not a Parker quote) says that Turpin is the only bona fide hooker on our books, although Gamble and Paix can play the position.

anyway Corey Parker says:

“If you’re looking across a roster at where you’re building and what you’re building, I personally would like to see the Broncos go after a No. 9,” Parker told foxsports.com.au.

“I don’t know how much money they’ve got free or who is available but if Jake Turpin gets injured - who goes into that role?

“It’s a pivotal role and you need great depth. We’ve seen that with Melbourne with Brandon Smith who starts the game then you’ve got Harry Grant who might be the best No. 9 in the comp and he’s able to come off the bench.

“You see some other teams that are doing similar things, starting 9s and other 9s who can come in and do that role and I think that is certainly where the game is going.”

“You need to play to your strengths and some of the Broncos strengths are their middle forwards,” Parker said.

“Get them going and it gives time and space to some of your strike players, (Selwyn) Cobbo, Kotoni Staggs, Tesi Niu, Herbie Farnworth.

“How do you unlock them and give them time and space? You need to really put your energy and focus on your 9 and unlocking those areas.”

“It all starts at the ruck and the teams that have the ability to create momentum and give time and space to your ball players certainly excel. It just gives you another dimension,” Parker said.

“Teams like the Storm adapt to where the game is going and what the game is doing, and in the back half of the season Souths’ Damien Cook was also able to do that - he’s evolved his game.

“When Damien Cook first came onto the scene he was nothing but a runner, that’s all he was and he didn’t worry about much else because he was so fast at dummy half. But now he’s bought in a nice kicking game, he’s got a little pass on him in and around space and he’s able to adapt.

“Api Koroisau has experience under his belt, good passing, he’s got a kicking game, he’s got the ability to do some things out of dummy half and then you go to Melbourne and Brandon Smith is nothing but a runner but he’s quite clever in the way he gets his runs up, goes off the back of a big fella and then he just runs.

“Whereas Harry Grant is a creator, he can do it all.”
