I am glad that Kevvie has come out and called out the refs. It changes nothing about last night but the NRL has shown one consistency - they reward coaches who complain. Kevvie has done it in a classy way.

You know...I think we might be being a bit tough on Baker.

I didn't realise he played 71 minutes, no wonder he was gassed in the back end of the game and especially out of position.

Additionally, I'm worried we might be burning Patty out - he played 80 on the back of 75 the week before.
We burned out haas for years. Now it’s patty’s turn.

Very articulate @Big Pete. Could not have put it any better, but to be quite frank, I could not be bothered putting in the effort you have to describe that omnishambles Sutton/Klien dished up to a national audience.

In terms of NRL consistency I've almost lost the will to live. 🤬 Their only claim to consistency is wrapped up in the narrative that they are consistently inconsistent.

Many of us keep harping on that we're so disillusioned with how the game has morphed into a referee's interpretation and are slowly going off the game. It must be close to reaching a serious non-returnable zenith. FMD we're already trying to match AFL numbers at games. The shit sandwiches we're serving up to the public is far from appetizing and is slowly but surely poisoning those punters on the fence and simultaneously totally disenfranchising punters who have had (up until now) a life long stake in the game.

I know my viewing hours have now dropped from almost every game to just our games. And the optics on show during them are nothing to write home about.

I've canned my Fox and Kayo subscriptions and have decided it is no big loss missing our games that are not free to air as the standard of officiating invariably ruins an otherwise great day I'm having (even when we do win).

Notwithstanding, I admire your dedication and perseverance.
Just fyi, rugby24.net has replays inside 24hrs of the game being aired. Plus sites exist to watch the game live and not pay into subscriptions that are systematically turning the sport into an imbalanced hyper-entertainment product.

In the first three rounds, teams have really shot out and pressured Walsh big time on the sweep play. I noticed against the Bunnies, we started playing short to counter that. We need to come up with a Plan B to throw at them as Walsh will be copping lots of heat this year.

Thanks for the heads up but in all honesty the game is no longer the draw card it once was so I have no interest in watching it online.

The fact that a Broncos coach has come out and taken aim at the NRL means the decision not to really punish May on the field or at the judiciary was far worse than even we thought.

because Typically Broncos coaches / management play the good little boys and keep their mouths shut

I think the thing that frustrates me the most is that people keep trying to say it is ok and that there shouldn't be suspension because it was an "accident". The thing people don't seem to understand is that potentially being an "accident" is not even relevant. There are plenty of "accidents" that happen in the NRL that still end up in penalties and suspensions. All accidents have repercussions, that just how the world and NRL work.

It was 15 minutes in when Cleary fended him in the middle of the chest and he ran 60m leaving him for dead.

I have never seen a team lose 4 players from their best 17 in one season. Incredible to see how much the broncos get raped by the salary cap.
The classic was the Storm losing Cronk to the Roosters, and then getting torched by him in the Grand Final.

Absolutely! The way May came in for that tackle he was ALWAYS going to make dangerous contact. This is why the rugby has implemented their system to protect players and include mitigating factors that help the ref adjudicate on the response. To say he was just rushing in to make a tackle is total bullshit. He went in to hurt Walsh and Walsh even jumped to try to avoid a head clash, because May SHOULD have been bending down to make a tackle.
Until the NRL sorts out the way players tackle to wrap up the ball, this will keep happening.

Imagine the screeching if the NRL followed Rugby's lead on this:

Can't for the life of me understands why the NRL wants a product where everytime an outside back goes off for an HIA (happens plenty) most teams fall apart having to put a back rower in the centres to get exposed. All they're doing is encouraging grubby teams like Penrith to go head-hunting to try to get opposition players knocked out of the contest, and then exploiting the gap they leave all night.

If you're going to have these ridiculous HIA rules then extend the bench by one man. Let teams carry an outside back as the 18th man who can be activated anytime - HIA or not. It creates a better product for the audience who don't have to watch forwards defend in the backline, and also means that a single HIA doesn't nearly automatically ruin a team's chances to win.

It's such an obvious solution.
Too obvious and too logical.
As it stands the 18th man is hardly ever used carrying an extra sub to cover injuries and/or concussions in the backs is a great idea. Coaches need to be forced to carry an outside back because majority of games they won't be used. So with 4 reserves they will stick with 3 forwards and a hooker/utility
