I think he lost confidence when Bennett kept picking him in 2018 despite him obviously being injured. He tried to keep going but ended up with a bad case of the yips like a golfer. That’s why I thought he would get back to near his best in 2019 but it didn’t happen.
Despite how angry I was at...
It was only a few years ago that Boyd was playing for Australia and doing a great job so hopefully he does find form again but I don’t think it was the pressure of the captaincy that caused his spiral downwards.
You’re right. I’m a bit jumpy today because I read some shit that had Boyd definitely playing in the centres. All I really want is for the trials to be taken seriously. If Boyd mans up and shows he’s over his yips then great but I hope it’s an even playing field because I rate a couple of the...
And yet the one opinion that is universal is that Boyd is cooked. He trains like a champion but when faced with 17 desperate professionals trying to take him out he caves.
A year ago I was defending him and predicting a big year for him but he spiraled into the abyss. That Seibold continues to...
Fitness is another key area that needs improving. It’s been years since I felt like we were one of the fittest teams in the competition. Greater fitness produces less errors, better decision making under pressure and more resilient defence.

That was dangerous. I had to remove a child’s headphones and get them to show me how to do that on the phone.
I know lots of us are over the preseason puff pieces in the media but there’s a pretty good story about Carrigan on nrl.com. Unfortunately I don’t know how to post them.
Yep. I agree. The captaincy can be a figurehead position for the sake of publicity and Glenn can do that whether he is in the run on side or not and Lodge and Croft can run the side on the field.
That’s the point Oates was making in an interview a while ago. He said that they have lots of leaders on the field but Darius is happy doing all the media crap and doesn’t get bothered by the negative stuff thrown around after a loss. So as far as Oates was concerned he was perfect for the job...
I have to say that at this point in the off season I am always excited and hopeful about the season to come but this year honestly feels special to me. It feels like the start of a dynasty.
Something like that but it depends how many minutes we need. If Turpin can only play 50-60 then we probably need a proper dummy half to make up the difference. If he can manage 70 then Bird and Glenn (maybe) can get us the other 10 and we can get a bit more creative with how we play.
How many minutes can we expect from Turpin at hooker? Was he able to play 80 at ISC level? I know we are expecting Paix or possibly Macca to back him up as the bench utility but neither of them is really ideal. Paix is inexperienced and Macca isn’t dynamic. If Turpin could play somewhere close...
