OFFICIAL A day with Seibs

I've been saying it.

Staggs 14

It makes sense to be fair.
He played well at 6 in the international, can't see why he couldn't play hooker and will be that Niko type player from off the bench.

The other thing that interests me though is that TPJ is above Fifita in the back row.
I felt like it would be the other way around to be fair with TPJ as the third option.

Can see the value of Staggs at 14, would not cringe at him playing anywhere from 1-5. Would even like to see what he could do at 9. Seems very versatile, just hope he doesn't get the shits like our last good 14. Centre position should open up a bit a few rounds in anyway.

Yeah I think people forget how many errors he made in attack and defence over on the right. Bird was one of the best centres in the game when fit so hopefully he can recapture that form on the right, and when Darius no doubt stinks it up on the left, Staggs can come in.

I can't agree with that.

Sure, our defence needs improvement: we ended the season with a negative points differential. But it wasn't until the final that it was really exposed. Up until then, it was our attack that was the laughing stock of the competition. It got progressively worse when we lost Dearden and Macca returned. And then in final, we couldn't score a single point against the Eels, even when we had field position.

Our best tries were individual efforts from Fifita and Haas. Maybe one of Milford's regulation bombs amounted to something but I don't recall it. The best attacking kick of the season came from Turpin, of all people, to put Coates away.

If our spine can't convert the fabulous field position our forwards keep winning, Seibold is gone before the season's over.
With all due respect, defence wins games, finals and grand finals. End of story.
Don,t give a **** about statistics.
The side that defends the best gets the chocolates and always will.

Putting in extra working on defence isn’t going to make a difference if we don’t fix our attitude. That’s what we need to work on. When we were willing to turn up, we were quite solid defensively and it’s just a matter of having that same attitude for the whole 80 week to week. If we can fix that, it will all come together.

In saying that, I would like us to fix up our ruck defence a bit.

And there was lots of dumb football that needs to go. Kicking out on the full of the kickoff. Mistakes on the first tackle. Silly penalties etc

Hold the ball, field placement and get hungry.

Thank, but I already get too much respect. I don't think you can ever win an argument over which is more important: defence or attack. You obviously need to score more points than you let in. That's the actual end of the story.

The Storm had by far the best defensive record last season but they were ultimately beaten by the Roosters' superior attack.

Our spine was likened to the Keystone Cops. In fairness, that was probably a compliment.

I think that currently injured players are being bumped down the list as the board probably represents what team they're training with. Staggs and Fifita are rehabbing rep season injuries and O'Sullivan and Palasia have long term knee injuries and are both at the bottom of their positional lists. We've had Staggs at 14 before. He got about 10 minutes a game and we all hated it.

Fitness is another key area that needs improving. It’s been years since I felt like we were one of the fittest teams in the competition. Greater fitness produces less errors, better decision making under pressure and more resilient defence.

Hold that thought until we see this happening in the Broncos sheds:

No one can build a bond with a panting group like Bennett. He must have some really incredible charisma. That’s why he’s the super coach. I’d love to see more of this between Seibs too but different coaching styles would suit different players.

Bellamy isn’t exactlya barrel of laughs but his team seems to go alright. Bennett’s approach works great with natural talents and those who aren’t the brightest or best trainers. He inspires them to play for each other and then gives them a simple game plan to funnel that passion into.
Players like Cronk, Smith, and Slater, are students of the craft and excelled through a more academic approach. Seibs seems to be yeeting players that don’t like homework and building around players that do (eg Croft, Turpin, Carrigan). Hopefully it works out.

My point is your comment didn't make sense on any level. Bennett has beaten Seibold 4-0 to date and the players clearly love him.

I’m talking about winning premierships, I’m not interested in the Bennett vs Seibold rubbish.

Nope, they got knocked out in the third week of the finals, the same as they did the previous. We got knocked out in the first week again but by the biggest losing margin in history.
Then it doesn't really matter does it? Do we need to do the Bennett/Seibold thing again? He was a great coach, yes he is a great man manager, but his results over the last 13 years are not great. So to that extent, B4L is right, that those man management skills have not been productive of results in recent times.

Add GI 2.0 (and Arrow) and they are seriously gonna challenge for the title.
It's Roosters and Rabbitohs ...…..Storm...………...then daylight.
Our chances this year are a balls unpredictable bounce from Darius' head in or out of the top 8 :nailbiter:
