OFFICIAL A day with Seibs

Hold that thought until we see this happening in the Broncos sheds:

Souffs could beat us every game for the next 10 years with Bennett coaching from his deathbed for all I care. These games hurt or feel great but in the end they mean nothing, winning a premiership does. Has Bennett done that since 10 years ago? Did he do it in the first year he coached the broncos, in either stint? The fact they were celebrating that victory like they won a premiership says more about his bitterness and overall attitude towards the club than anything else. It doesnt qualify as a criteria to show we made some massive mistake. Even if he won a premiership with souffs (with the nrls help) it still wouldn't show a mistake was made. He had 4 years and we were getting further away with his methods. Seibold may or may not be the right choice but ffs people have got to get out of this fairy land dream that we're so close to a premiership under bennett
Nope, they got knocked out in the third week of the finals, the same as they did the previous. We got knocked out in the first week again but by the biggest losing margin in history.
Did we get further than the 1st week the year before in a non-humiliating way? So not much has changed for either team really, except for the fact we debuted more players than any other nrl team last year whilst souffs depended upon a completely obvious handout from the nrl to not be in an absolute salary cap mess for years to come (sound familiar for Bennett coached teams he leaves?)..

Thank, but I already get too much respect. I don't think you can ever win an argument over which is more important: defence or attack. You obviously need to score more points than you let in. That's the actual end of the story.

The Storm had by far the best defensive record last season but they were ultimately beaten by the Roosters' superior attack.

Our spine was likened to the Keystone Cops. In fairness, that was probably a compliment.

It's not like Roosters defence was bad though. Statistically the 2nd best, and the best overall in big matches.

Add GI 2.0 (and Arrow) and they are seriously gonna challenge for the title.
It's Roosters and Rabbitohs ...…..Storm...………...then daylight.
Our chances this year are a balls unpredictable bounce from Darius' head in or out of the top 8 :nailbiter:

didn't you and many other damn near guarantee a premiership for Souths in 2019 ... just because they got Bennett ...

if you're tipping them, then we can put the red line through them right now

Then it doesn't really matter does it? Do we need to do the Bennett/Seibold thing again? He was a great coach, yes he is a great man manager, but his results over the last 13 years are not great. So to that extent, B4L is right, that those man management skills have not been productive of results in recent times.

I never set out to start another Seibold vs Bennett pissing contest. I just pointed out Seibold doesn’t come across as having any emotional range, personality, charm, energy, charisma, humour or whatever you want to call it. I also said it’s the job of the director to bring that out, if possible.

It’s pretty pointless judging Seibold on his record as there’s not much to see, other than the diabolical ending to 2019, which might help explain why he looks like he’s shitting bricks.

Unless the nrl get their way... When roosters fans are giving it to souffs fans about rorting the cap, you know you're getting some damn big leg ups. Not winning it would set in concrete that the broncos made the right choice and Bennett needs to retire this year tbh. Massive pressure given the help souffs have got with the cap

I don't want to either. Its just re-hashing what has already been said.
I hope he feels pressure. Any broncos coach should and would hopefully. In fact, any nrl coach should. It's a high pressure job. And I think he seems like a very serious guy seibold, but if he was smiling in this video he would get negative comments from the same people for not taking it seriously. And on top of that, the video had a serious tone anyway. Remember Bennett had a reputation for being grumpy prior to the truth coming out a few years ago. A good coach, like Bennett, will only show the fans and media what he wants them to see. Maybe seibold wants to show that he is working hard to fix the problems. Like we all want him to be.

20109? we'd be dust by then.
They have a better chance than us, just admit it.

you realise your example of Bennett showing that sort of emotion was the exception not the rule ... i can only recall twice in a career of 808 games where he displayed any emotion (whether his team was up by 40 or down by 40) ...

so if we do the maths he has been animated for 0.2% of his career

Dont discount a player swap with Melbourne either. I think there is a very good chance the Fox ends up at Souths, Johnston and Douhei and up at Melbourne

We rarely get to see the real Wayne Bennett. The version the media get isnt really him.

That was my point. He looks animated next to Mr Robot.

This exactly. Bennett would circle the wagons and no one could see the relationship he had with players. What we did know is they treated him like a father figure. As dour as his press and coaching box demeanour was I wouldn’t describe him as lacking charisma.

If the fox, latrell and arrow all end up at souffs, the rest of the comp may as well not show up

That's exactly the point... "The version the media get isn't really him"...

So in summary.... seibold needs to show all his emotions all the time but at the same time take his job and the challenge seriously but show character but also have a joke with his players but not be their mate but also be a father figure but also not give too much away but also give us great media access..

Contradictory and unrealistic right? Well then re-read the comments from some people when seibold does anything and tell me that's not what is expected of him. Bennett shits gold and seibold is responsible for climate change if you listen to some on this forum.

We got great media access, which we have been begging for for years, and people are still turning it into a bash seibold thread. Even people from other clubs are saying how great it is. But not here, on a broncos forum. Imagine the praise if Bennett did this hahaha ffs it's incredible...

And we seem to always beat the Roosters but can never beat Melbourne

And we seem to always beat the Roosters but can never beat Melbourne

... and the reason for that is something a data driven coach like Seibs ought to determine quite easily, and then fix it.

He could start by working out how Smith unpacks and exploits weak marker defence and defensive frailties on our edges.

Understanding Melbourne is quite easy. No one runs alone. There's always players in motion. There's an understanding in Melbourne that if there's only one 'on side' marker or simply one marker then the same play happens, run from dummy half knowing you'll have options either side. Every single Melbourne player is watching for it and it doesn't matter if anything is on or not, you simply have to run in support. It's a Bellamy expectation. In my opinion ha ha.

Not really to any of that. I'm just worried they'll fall asleep while he's talking.

Our best performances against the Storm have always been built on consistent, resilient defence, with the emphasis on resilience under constant pressure. That's a feature of any team which goes well against the Storm.

While a lot of that is based on organisation and leadership, it is also a matter of individual self belief, desire and discipline, and playing for each other, which is something this team lacked last year, and which for mine is Seibold's greatest challenge this year.

As others have posted about the "human touch" in coaching, data driven "machine learning" so to speak is well and good, however, coaching desire and self belief, and playing for each other is something else, which is where Bennett excelled. I hope Seibs also understands that. We are not robots.
