2 More clubs to join the ESL.

Doesn't that mean a lower salary cap?

Fingers crossed the Celtic Crusaders will be one of those teams - they're pushing for promotion as it is! Considering the Broncos' ties to that club, it'd be awesome to seem them in the top grade.

And broncospwn - why would it mean a lower salary cap??

Because if the NRL cut two teams here wouldn't it raise the salary cap to say an extra 8 million in total spread out over the remaining clubs? Or will they just have the same salary cap more or less clubs?

Nah, the salary cap is what each NRL club has to spend - not a total which is added together to be separated equally to the teams in the comp.

If the NRL cut back to being a 14 team comp, it wouldn't automatically mean a higher salary cap at all.

Ah ok, Thanks for clarifying that, I thought thats how they spread the salary cap.

I thought thats why the ESL has a higher cap cause they have 12 teams, I guess it makes it easier to have a higher cap though.
