2009 in perspective

For me, the greatest thing we achieved this year was realizing Steve Michaels is crap and unworthy of a Broncos jumper. Without his burden, things can only get better.

Sims @ prop - I'm not convinced but if thats all we got ... what choice do we have?

Steve Michaels - sorry to say but there seriously is no spot for him unless there are multiple injuries in the backline IMO.

The thing about Michaels is that he was struggling at a time when the entire team also was. I don't care who you are, this is never going to help you. He was too good a junior talent to not give a second chance to. I'm happy to give him a crack at the start of next year, however he is on his last legs.

Coincidence that we started playing well when he was dropped. icon_thumbs_u

He had his chance this year. He can go play good footy somewhere else now.

of course, dropping a centre was the only reason our season got back on track...

Obviously team attitude sucked, but he was deadset useless.

I saw him catching the train the other day, he's looking fit though:

Idea 10/10

Execution 7/10

Didn't we sign a couple of young front rowers a few weeks back? Or was I drunk when I thought I read that?
We have signed Matt Britt from the Raiders U20s who is massive and also Timmy Natusch from the Knights who is about 21 I think and has potential.

I saw Natush play for the Knights v the Bulldogs earlier this year, i think he scored a try. he looked tidy. Reminded me of Sammy T.

hes useless and does not deserve a second chance. that game where he single handedly let in 5 tries was the worst performance i have ever seen from a player.

ever.

Should we mention that the team he let the tries in for was the RABBITOHS as well.... [icon_lol1. [eusa_doh

I agree Michaels should be way way way down the list of options for our backline and he'd need to show absolutely phenomenal form to get a call up - and most likely have an injury crisis in first grade.

But never say never.

That said, if I was Bruno I'd be shopping Michaels around. He could hope some clubs didn't watch the Souths game......

What about everyone death riding Sims and Setu a few months ago? Sticking a struggling player in a struggling team only compounds their problems, especially a player as low on confidence as Michaels was. I'm quite happy to see how he goes at the start of next year when we will hopefully carry on our form from the end of this year. We're paying his salary, he obviously has ability - you don't just lose it - it would be stupid if Ivan didn't investigate the option.

He'll have to fight it out with a few others for a spot though.

Well if Saturday night showed anything it was that you can't just put anyone alongside Lockyer and it will work. So yes, I'd love to have Shane Perry back as reserve halfback for Wallace, if Ben Hunt doesn't develop quickly enough :P
