Australia halfback Johnathan Thurston is one of four players to be ruled out of the Kangaroos train-on squad for next month's Four Nations tournament.
Thurston's ankle injury has failed to recover in time, while Penrith’s Michael Jennings, Manly skipper Jamie Lyon and Gold Coast Titans’ forward Mark Minichiello were also forced to withdraw following medical examinations in Sydney on Wednesday.

Like Thurston, Jennings and Lyon both have ankle injuries, while Minichiello picked up a groin strain in the Titans' finals loss to Sydney Roosters on Friday night.

West Tigers players named in the train-on squad were at Wednesday's gathering at Redfern Oval, but were excused from official training duties.

ok so Injuries from Australia so far:

Hodges
Inglis
Jennings
Lyon
Thurston
M. Minichello
Josh Morris

With those centers injured and the fact that Folau won't be picked, there is a good chance Gasnier will be selected for Australia although his form probably doesn't warrant it if we were closer in full strength in the centers.

with Thurston out Prince or Cronk is the likely half back

I want to see Brent Tate picked - he's a machine in rep footy.

I think Willie Tonga almost has to be a certainty for one center spot IMO, i would go with Tate as the other spot.

my backline although i don't expect to see it pick like this:

1. Slater
2. Boyd
3. Tate
4. Tonga
5. Tuqiri
6. Lockyer
7. Prince

Yes well there's currently talk that Mitchell Pearce is in line for the gig. I mean, seriously, Pearce over Cronk or Prince?? Seriously?!?!

Couple positions really stumped me, just off the top of my head the team that will probably get picked.

Switch Aubusson with Luke Lewis and have Harrison instead of Scott or Creagh.

I'd have Dave Taylor ahead of Bird in 16, but it is otherwise a pretty handy looking squad.

Funny how only 1 player from each of the Grand Finalists is a possible selection in the 17 (Myles and Weyman), and by no means certainties, although it would be an injustice for Myles to miss out.

Weyman actually requires surgery, so he won't feature. It's why I gave Galloway the nod.

Heading down to Melbourne for the Aus v Eng match, and staying for the Melbourne Cup. Haven't been to a rep match since France V Scotland in 08. I'm really looking forward to this.

Antonio Winterstein was our only player to make the New Zealand squad...not that he'll be our player much longer.

Alex Glenn missed out.
