It seems as if everyone has different rating scales...

1.Josh Hoffman - 8
2.Antonio Winterstein - 5
3.Alex Glenn - 6
4.Israel Folau - 8
5.Jharal Yow Yeh - 6
6.Darren Lockyer - 9
7.Peter Wallace - 6
8.Shane Tronc - 6.5
9.Andrew mcCullough - 6
10.Nick Kenny - 5
11.Ben Te'o - 7.5
12.Sam Thaiday - 9
13.Corey parker - 7.5

14.Ben Hunt - 6
15.Matt Gillett - 7.5
16.Scott Anderson - 6
17.Josh McGuire - 6
18.Mitchell Dodds - 5

Back to my scale:

Glenn gets an 8 for being a significant, consistent part of the backbone of the team;

Hoffman gets a 7. When he learns, as he will, to ball-play and support, Slater-like, up more behind the line, he'll get the 9 he's capable of;

Winters gets 5. Which reflects what he is: average.

Maybe because Izzy was always a winger

yes and he still plays like that which imo did affect the teams attacking chances a few times a game.

*Just saw your post in the other topic, looks like we agree*

Now, help me here dx - say after me: "I agree that Gillett should be our permanent starting lock" [icon_razz1

Hunt? Parker? Seriously?
our play just dies in the @rse whenever parker gets the ball.

Same could be said for Izzy imo, 9/10 times he would try and run the ball himself no matter who was open either side of him. Very selfish player, but i guess that could also be due to the stupid "Give it to Izzy/Kick it to izzy" play Brisbane used on every set.
20 tries in 20 games.....hard to say that the play dies when he gets it. Play stops cause he scores, but it doesn't die lol[/quote:u7jz76kn]

Totally agree with AP.

No doubting his try scoring record but I do think Izzy could have looked to set up others on the odd occassion rather than go himself ALL the time. Big lose for us he is.

1. Josh Hoffman – 7/10. Very good season, especially regarding his defence. He will learn and become more proficient in attack, making him a potent weapon in the future.

2. Antonio Winterstein – 4/10. Couldn't reproduce his form from last year and became a target for the opposition's bombs due to his aerial deficiencies. Always put in a solid effort and was one of our best dummy half runners.

3. Israel Folau – 8/10. Worked tirelessly and developed into one of the best centres in the game. His 20 tries, line breaks and pure strength were always threatening and gave us plenty of advantage. Only needs to learn to pass to better positioned players.

4. Alex Glenn – 6/10. THE utility of the Broncos, filling in plenty of spots in the team with enough competence everywhere. Did quite well as centre.

5. Jharal Yow Yeh – 6/10. Intermittent form lowered his score. Capable of astonishing things, but still raw and gullible, being one of the kids that dropped his head most often during our season slumps . Needs to lift his game coming season and having Hodges next to him should help.

6. Darren Lockyer – 9/10. His best season since 2006! I would dare say he defended better than ever and although his speed isn't what it used to be, he guided our young team around the park with purpose and remains our most creative player by far.
7. Peter Wallace – 5/10. Lacked creativity and leadership, but was pressured by inexistent go forward and slow play the ball from the hooker(s) for most of the season. Was apparently under an injury cloud most of the season, which probably also influenced his game negatively. Will need fair improvement next season with Hunt breathing down his neck.

8. Shane Tronc – 7/10. Entered the club at a grave time for our forward pack, instantly gaining a starting spot. Despite his slowness, he was the best prop by a mile. Great work rate, good defence and good offload in attack.

9. Andrew McCullough – 5/10. Showed what he is capable of in the last games of the season, indicating he’s willing and capable to take leadership and responsibility. Very good defensively, he clearly struggles in the ruck against fast play the balls. He also needs to deliver better and especially faster service from dummy half. Still, he does remind me of a young Cameron Smith though…

10. Nick Kenny – 5/10 Was never the same after returning from injury, and was a part of our biggest problem: Lack of go forward and good defence in the ruck.

11. Sam Thaiday – 9/10. Simply the best 2nd row player of the comp. Went to a new level, playing 80 mins or close to it in most games. Had an unfortunate dip at the time we needed him most. He is most devastating running at the fringes.

12. Ben Te’o – 8/10. Another member of our awesome back line. Worthy successor of Tunza in the hard hits dept, has versatility, speed and good mobility.

13. Corey Parker – 8/10. Mister dependable. Like the previous two, a part of the strongest sector of the team by far, his work rate, offloads and reliability makes him an essential part of the team. Probably lacks the aura necessary for a captain and it showed when Locky was missing. Improved his goal kicking this season!

14. Matt Gillett – 7/10. Rookie of the year and yet another reason why we probably have the best second row of the competition. A very good defender, he is strong yet deceptively fast, has good ball skills, good offload and impressive mobility.

15. Scott Anderson – 5/10. Belongs in the same row as his fellow props. Needs to improve, but has room for it given his age. Showed in patches he can be a good aggressive runner of the ball.

16. Josh McGuire – 5/10. The same can be said of Josh as above, but discipline is also a factor working against him. Still young and promising though.

17. Ben Hunt – 6/10. Faster and more creative than Macca, he lacks the defensive ability to ever become a full-time hooker. Definitely the half back of the future, but needs patience until Wallace moves on to 5/8, hooker or even out of the club.

18. Corey Norman – 4/10. Clearly not up to the pressure cooker that is the NRL, despite his very good debuts in respectively fullback and 5/8 positions. He is way too nonchalant in his attitude, especially regarding defence and needs to grow up a fair bit. Being so young, he can improve a lot and has the talent for it. Will he…?

19. Mitchell Dodds – 5/10. Has an excellent defence technique and hits hard, generally stopping whoever he hits on his tracks and putting him on his backside. Lacks aggression in attack and needs to take more hitups.

Ivan Henjack – 4/10. Seems to let his ego get ahead of the team’s interests. Lacks ability to motivate the team in its direst moments. Although loyal to his players, his selections are worthy of a Stephen King novel sometimes. Set plays look to be reminiscent of WB’s time.
There doesn’t seem to be any study of the adversaries or an appropriate game plan to counter their most potent weapons, and without Lockyer guiding it, our team is almost an anarchy, making me question his ability to coach any NRL team, much less the Broncos!

1. Josh Hoffman - 7/10 – This kid dad plenty of wraps on him before the season started and seemed to get better as the season went on, more workman like than flashy, but I liked that, didn’t try to over play his hand. The additional skills will come in time. Boyd is only now getting a passing game, certainly one to watch in the future.
2. Antonio Winterstein - 4/10 – Never seemed to get out of second gear, and the more the season went on the worse he got at the high balls. I would have liked him to stick around for next year but in saying that I’d rather Kemp if I had the choice. Only gave him such a low score because of how he played this year in comparison to last year, he can play better than that, just didn’t show it.
3. Alex Glenn - 5/10 – Got stuck out in the centres, which no doubt is not his favoured position and that IMO counted against him. A quality reserve and needs to be in the team next year.
4. Israel Folau - 8/10 – I still say he’s a better winger than centre, however not much more could have been asked from him, he was the difference in a number of games, but without Hodges and the wingers failing to provide adequate support, he was left to do it all himself and it showed. Will be missed.
5. Jharal Yow Yeh - 6/10 – I’m giving him a pass mark and that is because he was injured early in the season and never really got his confidence back and it showed. Dropped a lot of the same balls he caught last year, I’m putting it down to “second year syndrome” so much more is expected next year. He showed glimpses of what he is capable of and the very next play shows his deficiencies.
6. Darren Lockyer - 9/10 – It’s not just what he did with the ball (that pass in SoO 3 was possibly the greatest pass I’ve ever seen) but his leadership of such a young team. Defensively he was better than I’ve seen him in years. Age will not weary them comes to mind.
7. Peter Wallace - 3/10 – This is not because Wallace is a bad player, more to the fact that I’m not seeing any improvement from the player that came here a few seasons ago. I want a halfback that takes control, someone who challenges the opposition and puts them in two minds in defence, Wallace hasn’t done that for a couple of season now. Lacks the leadership and creativity around the rucks required for a first grade halfback. The lack of pressure from a younger half is adding to his complacency.
8. Shane Tronc - 6/10 – I’ve been happy with Tronc, he has given us size up front and has an offload in his game and makes few errors. Hasn’t had the impact he did at the Cowboys, but would still be my starting prop next season.
9. Andrew McCullough - 4/10 I would have rated him lower expect for a few games this year and add to that a little bit of benefit of the doubt considering hooker is one of the toughest gigs in the game. Showed what he is capable of against New Castle in the first 15 mins and then wasn’t seen for the rest of the game, better for long is what I’m longing for. I’d like to see him quicker around the rucks and still think his passing game is too slow from dummy half, but also think his defensive game is quite good. I expect continued growth as a footballer next year.
10. Nick Kenny - 4/10 – The only reason I rated him this low is because he has waited a long time to make the grade as a starting prop and IMO hasn’t kicked on. Not hitting in defence as his nick name of the “Wasp” would imply. Always seems to get dominated in attack. I’d like to see more “sting” in defence and work on his bulk for next season if he wants to continue in the first grade squad.
11. Ben Te'o - 7/10 – Liked his all-round game, pulled off some clangers in defence and scored a few excellent back rower tries. A little more consistency should see him develop into a Tony Carroll type role.
12. Sam Thaiday - 8/10 – The best second rower in the game for most of the season although over played his hand a little too much in some games. Still his efforts were instrumental in getting us as far as we did this season.
13. Corey Parker - 8/10 – Almost an unsung hero of our front pack. Held the team together (although not from his captaincy) and his cover defence were notably missing when he was out injured. The Broncos are a weaker side without him and it showed.

14. Ben Hunt - 3/10 – I have only rated him this low because of expectation. Is he a halfback? IMO no, I’m sure he has the skills he just doesn’t seem to use them. Is he a Hooker? No, doesn’t have the defensive skills and his kicking game is not NRL standard at this stage. I’d like him to spend a year or so honing his skills in the QLD Cup. That doesn’t mean to say that he hasn’t had an impact but he wouldn’t replace any other first grade halfback or hooker in the game at the moment.
15. Matt Gillett - 9/10 – He has had a stellar season and had me saying “Taylor who”. I don’t expect the same next season but, wow, what a great first year.
16. Mitchell Dodds - 5/10 – Was used mostly as a replacement and basically did his job, he will be better for the experience next year.
17. Scott Anderson - 5/10 – Would have liked to seen more from him this year, especially when we were down on troops. I think he needs to bulk up a bit for next season.

Josh McGuire - 2/10 – Gave away more penalties than any other player for minutes played I’m sure. The “Big Show” is just that at the moment, all show not substance. One of this seasons biggest disappointments as far as I’, concerned. Needs a big year to regain some credibility.
Ashton Sims - 2/10 – Only played a couple of good games since he became a Bronco, pity because he has the skills and the aggression. Maybe he was too busy sulking to get any real work done. The game against Saints last year is what he is capable of, unfortunately for all of us, that was the last time he played like that.
Lagi Setu - 4/10 – I thought he started the season off well, but injuries, poor form and the fact that he was leaving at the end of the year meant that he never really reached his full potential.
Denan Kemp - 4/10 – Injuries destroyed any chance of a successful return, however I believe with a full season in 2011 and outside Inglis, he will be one of the leagues top try scorers..
Corey Norman - 4/10 – Reminds me of a young Darren Lockyer. I have no doubt we are seeing the future of the Broncos in him and out next real superstar. In the meantime he needs to work on his errors and be more selective with his moves and passes. A extended stint in the QLD Cup with Hunt would do both of then a world of good.
Steve Michaels - 1/10 – Some players need to go to another team to develop, Michaels may well be that player, never regained the promise of his form of a few years back.

Ivan Henjack – 8/10 – I know will be at odds with every other person here, it’s just that I think, and considering the circumstances he has done an excellent job. Any Broncos coach taking over from Bennett was on a hiding to nothing. I don’t care if it Jack Gibson coaching our team, the fact we missed the finals for the first time in 18 years anyone (including Bennett himself) would have been in the same boat as Henjack. Many forget the many times we “fell” into the Top 8 with far better and more experienced teams then what we had. I’m just saying that I think he did a good job, most will disagree.
