2014 Broncos Season

Nothing in the Sunday Mail I've got about the Broncos at all.

I have no idea. I don't work for them! I got told it would appear today.

I would expect a 100 things could change about when a story appears.

Can you give us a hint what it was about then?

Our season right at this point is already a mess, apart from the side show of who we have signed (or not) right now we have

Hunt
Kahu
Barba
Macca as our spine or more likely IMO

Hunt
Barba
Hoff
Macca

we have very little backup in case of injury in the halves or hooker. I love the optimism by a lot on here but I can't see a winning season coming up. I doubt we have the squad to make the 8 and even if we stumble in we won't go any further.
It's just a shame where we are headed ATM which IMO is backwards.

I'm still looking forward to the season though mostly to see who steps up, who keeps improving and who if any emerge.

In my eyes this is how I see the Broncos 2014 season ATM

- Hook's make or break year if he fails this time he will be very lucky not to get sacked

- A new club and a new life for Ben Barba. Will he recapture his form of 2012 and be one of Brisbanes best signings?. By what I've heard he has settled in well and is keen to rip in next year.

- Will Ben Hunt live up to expectations laid on him as a rookie and perform at NRL level?

- Will Sam Thiaday finally play consistently well at club level and if he will improve his skills as a captain?

- The team faces a major challenge of reclaiming the mantle as QLD's top club after the failures of 2013.

- Been impressed by the changes being made. Signing the Raiders talent scout and a new fitness coaching were a great start and managed to get the signatures of Barba and Milford with the possible signing if K. Hunt.

I'm a fan of Ben Hunt, but I've got a gut feeling it's going to be more of the same this season from him, one great game followed by 4 games where he's invisible in the second half, followed by another great game.

That is a very pessimistic view ... IMO we have made some bug strides forward recently... lets look at our managements actions over the last 6 months.

* Realised Peter Wallace couldn't lead the club in the post Lockyer era ... released him.

* Realised we lacked x-factor ... fixed it signed Barba for next season and Milford for 2015

* Realised our fitness was a disgrace in 2013 ... fixed it, fired old useless fitness coaches, hired one of the best in the business

* Shored up talent identification, by hiring top talent scout

* shored up our development by setting up new Logan youth academy

all positive moves and all much better than we have been doing for the last 5 years at least ...

Summed up well mate. I think we've sucked since Lockyer left but what the club has done this year has left me feeling optimistic of getting back on track to winning a premiership. All very good moves. Now it's just up to Griffin to perform. If only we had Milford for next year because 5/8 might prove a real problem.

Barring a significant halves signing, I don't think we have the team to make a genuine tilt at the premiership

But the team is still an improvement from 2013 and I think we will win our fair share

Predicted finish: 7th (and most likely a quick and quiet exit from the finals)
