They do have a system, the top 8 sides of 2016 play each other twice and play teams in the bottom 8 once=22 games. They then ad lib it to make up the remaining 2 games.

This obviously isn't true as the Broncos are the only team to play the top 4 twice, and only play the panthers once.

Well, I definitely don't have the sort of spare time needed to check every team's schedule for next year but the Cowboys play all the top 4 teams twice so your first point is incorrect.

I feel the same way, why should a TV Network decide when and where we play all of the time?

I would prefer to take my kids to a Saturday night game or a Sunday home game.

Because that TV network has invested a mammoth amount in the sport and without them, RL would be pretty lame. Very inconvenient for families and the like, I agree but this is part and parcel of the modern day game.

Well for every negative there is a positive I guess.

But the losers in this deal are the fans and the club itself, as less people will be going to the games and spending money on tickets and or season passes.

I know I won't be getting one for 2017, first time in about 7 years.

Thursday and Friday night home games for me are just not viable financially or logistically.

I think you'll find nothing much will change from a Broncos crowd numbers POV.

We have been stuck with a majority of Friday night games for years.

Personally I do understand the concessions given to channel 9 (although, I don't particularly like it). Because if I was paying nearly $2 billion in would want to make sure my best rating teams were playing in the premium prime time slot as well.

Attendance figures won't change much if we get moved to more weekend games, but I think it will be filled with more actual fans who can make those games from Ipsw/Logan/GC etc, rather than all the people who work in the city and go just coz they can or tag along with other fans already going (but never truly convert)

Surely a "professional comp" has to have some sort of rules around how the draw is developed.

On another note who is the darling Sydney team they want to get up this year??? Without looking into the draw I'm thinking panthers and eels will have a soft draw

I don't usually agree with Todd Greenberg.

There is video on Facebook where he responds to the Broncos "favourable" scheduling.

His response is spot on.

He basically says that under the current TV deal (that expires at the end of 2017) channel nine have the rights to pick 48 games a year to broadcast. And they choose the Broncos because of how well the rate.

He goes on to say that the club and is fans don't want to play every Friday. In fact they are screaming for Sunday games. (The person who asked the question didn't like that.

Finally he says that from 2018 the NRL will get more control over scheduling.

There is no easy draw in the NRL Telstra Premiership – but some are arguably harder than others.
NRL.com have analysed the fixture list of all 16 clubs for the 2017 season to come up with a "toughness" rating for each team's draw.
Here's how it works: we've ranked each opponent based on their 2016 finish – minor premiers Melbourne being worth 16 points, while wooden spooners Newcastle are worth one point. Then we've used those numbers to analyse each club's draw. More games against tough opponents will lead to a high "toughness" score, while more games against weaker opponents will lead to a low score.

The toughest draw belongs to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, who rank at the top of the list both according to 2016 rankings and to 2017 premiership betting. They play premiership contenders the Storm, Cowboys, Broncos and Panthers twice each, with only a single game against lower-ranked clubs like Newcastle and St George Illawarra.
By contrast, the Bulldogs only play nine of their 24 matches against teams that played finals football in 2016, and will be forced to face premiership heavyweights Melbourne, Canberra and Cronulla just once each.
The Eels meanwhile have the "easiest" draw according to the current premiership betting odds, with two games each against the three least fancied NRL clubs (the Knights, Dragons and Wests Tigers).
Does a difficult draw matter? Yes and no. Sure, playing a tougher run of opponents could make a difference for teams vying to clinch a finals spot who are on the edge of the top eight. On the other hand, teams that do make the finals will arguably be more battle-hardened if they've got there by beating the best of the best on a regular basis.

I'd love to see their maths to work that out. We play the whole top 8 twice each. So that's 176 points already. So how'd they get 119?

Edit- My bad, we don't play the Panthers twice. So 165 points from 13 games.
