2018 NRL Side

wondering what the likelihood of Jack Bird to 1, Darius to left centre is over the next year or two? Bird has publically stated he wants to play 1 or 6, can't see him displacing the Milf, and we all know Darius isn't what he used to be.

zero chance ...

and all bird has stated is that he wants his hands on the ball more ... no positions

Watch his interview with denan kemp, states he is primarily financially driven and has a desire to play 6 and 1

states he is primarily financially driven

If he was financially driven he would have taken the Knights offer, which was around 400k extra a year ... he could have also picked his position if he went there ... nice try

Allegedly... we don't know the actual difference between offers, and those are Bird's own words.

Yeah not much point debating it Foordy, the footage is on youtube you can just watch it.

Obviously there are always going to be contributing factors behind closed doors (like he may win another premiership here, third party etc.) but he straight up said money is his main driving factor. Which is actually refreshingly honest, i get sick of players sugar coating their reasoning with bullshit when it comes to contract negotiations. You're either doing it for loyalty, opportunity or financial security. Be transparent.

In every interview and article I've read, at no point does he say money is the main driving factor.

He says you have to look after yourself and take the deal that's best for you, but there are several factors he takes into consideration when deciding on which contract to take.

Feel like we've already got 3 or 4 players who could be considered a stop-gap at Halfback, no real benefit in signing any more. Our focus should be on finding a real Halfback to solve our issues, and maybe a bit of depth in the outside backs.

I think we should try and get Jackson Hastings. Not necessarily the answer to the halves situation but a potential stopgap and/or bench hooker that we need

We have a Hastings type player at the club already, another one wouldn’t benefit us.

What we need to get is a proven halves coach. Someone that will teach game management, kicking etc. The John’s brothers have mentored some of the best halves in the game, halves that are in the top 5.

I feel like Walters and Alf are teaching our players to play off the cuff. But we need someone different that will teach the other skills needed.

There's more chance of dally messenger coaching our outside backs then the johns brothers coaching our halves. Matt johns hates Bennett, called him an old flog last night on his show-very unprofessionally and aggressively actually. Massive hatred there...

I wonder which ex-bronco would be able to do that....

It seems like Lockyer doesn't have the time to be a halves coach considering the other roles he has.

It’s a shame he’s gone that way... help the broncos or be a shit commentator

Why the hell didn’t make a play to sign Trent Hodkinson for around $150000? He’s had a lot of injury and form issues but we have no real NRL experienced backups and if he sorts himself out with the benefit of being at a professional club he has the skill set to fill the massive organisational and kicking gaps we have.
