2018 NRL Side

I’m not suggesting it in the slightest but I’m curious if Macca has ever played in the halves?

I vaguely remember him playing halfback and stinking.

From memory he spent his juniors in the halves but was converted to a hooker when the under 20's kicked off

He spent some time in the halves with Hunt growing up.

He also played halfback for the Broncos first grade squad against Panthers in 2008 and 5/8 against Sharks in 2009. He didn't do that well in those games.

With Kahu out and Boyd clearly not 100%, how soon until Bird is back and ready? rest Boyd for 4-5 Weeks before origin.

Potential option:
Fullback: Isaako
Wingers: Oates/TommyGun
Centres: Bird/Roberts.

Macca to Captain.

Thoughts?

Not a bad plan, but Boyd in the presser was talking up how good he felt after that game, so I doubt he will be going anywhere, unless he gets further injured from here.

Will be a definite option around Origin time, though Bird may very well be in NSW camp then, so Oppa would probably be a centre and Pearson probably would be on a wing.

Come origin Kahu will be Back also, will add the the useful rotation for wing spot in this period.

Boyd says that, his running on field says otherwise. Groin injury and possibly hammy

Boyd is delusional or lying to be less of a target for opposition worryingly I think bit of both.

Question is also how much is temporary injury versus chronically versus afraid of hurting himself again.

Anyone got any thoughts on this team?

Bird will give us some added running & effort from Fullback, Boyd & Kahu on the wings will provide safety under the high balls and good finishing ability, Isaako & Roberts in the centres as our X-Factors with big bodies. Oates starting on the left edge to combine with Milford & Bird. Glenn as the utility on the bench as cover for any back line or edge injury.

Contingent on Boyd being willing to play wing of course, but we've already seen Inglis move from his preferred Fullback position this year, maybe Darius will do the same for us.

1. Bird
2. Boyd (c)
3. Isaako
4. Roberts
5. Kahu
6. Milford
7. Nikorima
8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. Pangai Jr
11. Oates
12. Gillett
13. McGuire

14. Glenn
15. Thaiday
16. Sims
17. Ofahengaue

That's a squad.

When Bird comes back I see 3 options for him centre, FB, 5/8. He won’t get picked at lock.

Bird has one option, and that's centre.

Especially after the Kahu injury.

He really doesnt. We may find him starting as bench utility for the first few weeks he is fit as we dont really need to rush him back. I'm still pretty sure he will end up as lock, from what i gather thats why we targeted him in the first place. The only logical reason to put him in at center early on is to get him match fit.

The forwards that we've released over the last couple of years are playing alright at the moment..
