POST GAME [2022 State of Origin - Game I] NSW vs QLD

Plenty of whinging about the refs, particularly the DCE try going on about Paulo being held in the scrum. They seem convinced they will win Perth lol
I am a bit worried about Perth. There is a lot of improvement in that NSW team, and they are already in the ear of the refs... and I still have ptsd from that last smashing we got when we played there.

If you were picking the Aussie team based on that one game, you’d surely go:

1. Tedesco (NSW)
2. To’o (NSW)
3. Holmes (QLD)
4. Wighton (NSW)
5. Cobbo (QLD)
6. Munster (QLD)
7. Cherry-Evans (QLD)
8. Tino (QLD)
9. Cook (NSW)
10. Haas (NSW)
11. Capewell (QLD)
12. Murray (NSW)
13. Cotter (QLD)

14. Grant (QLD)
15. Collins (QLD)
16. Carrigan (QLD)
17. Yeo (NSW)
I’d just pick the QLD team.

I read reports of their whinging about Cam Smiths commentary. Him cheering us on has upset a few people apparently...... :rofl

Surely this is being used as ammunition..?

I didn't hear them whinging when Gus was yelling YES when Finch kicked the field goal. Or when Jennings scored the match-winning try in Gallen's last game. Or the multiple other times he did it.

Ticket prices are fucking ridiculous.

$90 for restricted view at Suncorp. Even with AfterPay, that's fucked. If they were cheaper, I'd go.

I've also heard some complaints about the Klein not blowing a penalty when we held down Yeo to end the game ...

as per usual, their arguments are BS, because in this situation it would have been a six-again, and unlike a penalty, the six-again doesn't actually give you a play past the siren

I love the lines Pat runs - he gets great leg speed and gets in behind the markers, then hits a gap between two defenders which allows him to push through, find his front, and get a quick play the ball. It's just really good, smart prop play, executed superbly.

And then Collins just ran like a mad man straight and hard, but was still getting down without being turtled so he could get the quick play the ball.

Big plus for Patrick, club will benefit from this experience.

Seven Queensland forwards had more than 50% of their PTB as fast. Blues only had three.

Six Queensland forwards were standing or facing the front more than 50% of the time. Payne was the only NSW forward to get over 40% for standing or facing the front.

Capewell had 12/16 fast.
Carrigan 11/17 standing or facing the front.

What is the cut off for “fast”? Out of curiosity

Watch for Flegler this weekend .
He will have a point to prove . And have a lot of energy from Origin camp .
I heard Cam say he was really impressed with Fleglers willingness to learn new tips from the origin coaching staff.

Probably explains why his form improved after the last camp.

They've got to at least consider starting Pat and having Flegs on the bench. I hope Tommy kills it over the next two weeks to really press his case.

We don't need to provide anymore reps to origin... especially with us having to play Rd 17.

The kind of impact brought by Patty and Collins off the bench was huge... I'd be reluctant to change that... especially if Papa did the job that the coach asked of him i.e. go hard for as long as you can.

I thought his first stint was good... first hitup he could've been belted and driven backwards, but instead he ran over Yeo and "didn't injure him"... first hitup sets the tone for the initial exchanges and we were on top.

I think NSW will definitely be looking for Pat now as well... having him start makes him an easy target, bringing him off the bench against fatiguing forwards where he can up the tempo, makes it harder for them to spot him on the field and then nullify him.
