POST GAME 2023 Maori All-Stars vs Indigenous All-Stars Discussion

Riki has had a great game just disappointing that he had his signature poor read in defence that resulted in a try

Nah, Oates does one thing really well change that and he gets a bit lost, don't Forget Cobbo has been this good on the right as well, when he gets good ball.
Just loving that right arm fend he gets to use on the left

I'm guessing Preston Riki isn't with us, but he's looked pretty strong as well

Albert Kelly is having a good afternoon too.

Yeah being a lefty having the left hand carry he has more danger being on the left, it's the same issue being the opposite for Herbie.

And Oates

The only one playing on their most appropriate side is Staggs

ah well we got to make sure that staggs is in position for the 3 games he plays well a season.

Enjoying a different coach?

Let's not start that again!

Selwyn was able to turn around a poor first 3 quarters with his last quarter tries. Was very uninvolved and error prone for the first 60 minutes or so and probably should’ve scored more if not for his hands letting him down. Hopefully the tries did good for his confidence though.

Riki was pretty great by his standards but his biggest flaw has always been his struggle when having to make a few defensive efforts in a row and it was on display again today when he made a great tackle and then immediately let in a try.

Arthur’s was solid and should be proud of his efforts.

overall pretty good from the broncos players

Riki ball in hand was quite destructive, could definitely run at space a bit better but like if that’s what we get from Riki consistently then I won’t be complaining. As for the defensive effort I didn’t specifically see his involvement yet so I am probably not the best to comment but just in general with respects to defense in these sort of games there isn’t much structure at all which can lead to some pretty adlib defensive sets from teams and hopefully that is really what it comes down to because it was a bit of a shmozzle from both teams.
