2023 Predicted Line-Ups

I would do that too but I would also swap Jensen/Taupau out for Piakura just for a point of difference...or even Mariner.

Who are you replacing for Mariner........you're not suggesting a winger/centre as a part of the bench rotation are you?

Pondering it, not suggesting it. I don't know who to replace for Mariner but the trials are really showing that he has levelled up and will need to fit somewhere in the first grade side at some point soon. I don't know what the answer is unless we let Herbie go or move Kotoeni to the second-row.

you've always got... x player has a slight niggle so he'll sit out this week.

It could be an opportunity for us to keep the backline guys fresh rather than having them out there getting bashed every round week on week.

Over the course of the year Mariner could pick up 10 or so games... Walsh has a week off Herbie/Cobbo into fullback Mariner gets a game

If our 9 could get through 80 min you could carry staggs on the bench cobbo to center mariner to wing

Yeah you could and that is all a good idea except we don't have a 9 who can play 80, so it is a moot point unfortunately. But in this era destroyed by V'landysball, it isn't the worst idea to just have two forwards on a bench, a utility and a back because the pace of the game has gone so ridiculous.

The Tigers looks pretty strong on paper.
Can we call them the paper tigers?

I jest, they've fucking smoked us the past few years and probably will again this year unfortunately. We haven't beaten them since 2018...5 long years and that was a 9-7 scoreline:

Plus we get them on April 1st...jokes on us again...

That's crazy!

On a related tangent, I suspect the top 8 might get a bit of a shake up this season, at least I think that log jam between like 3rd and 14th should be fun.

It looks to me like the Storm, Panthers, Eels and Raiders have gotten weaker, not drop out of the 8 weak though of course for the Storm and Panthers.

The Broncos, Dogs, Titans and Tigers look stronger, the Tigers to me are the smokeys as they look really good on paper but can they perform consistently?

The Cows, Sharks and Warriors all look about the same.

It is probably going to be a long year for the Dragons, Dolphins happily and Knights though sadly.

although both have recruited well, I'm not sure either the Bulldogs or Tigers have the halves to make the 8. both will be big improvers though

I think the Tigers will go the closest with the addition of Koroisau. maybe they'll return to their traditional 9th place.

The warriors couldn't look any more different? They have added so much starch and toughness. I think they are a Smokey

That's fair, I just feel personally they've shifted deckchairs to end up same samey. Plus they lost Walsh. They may well surprise and a lot will depend on their new coach as well and what he can get out of them.

Taine might be the fullback, he's a big chance- I am excited about him.
