The thing is if the ref isn't sure that it was directed at him, then don't create a charge to suspend him... instead fine him a huge fucking amount for the language being used on the field.

If the evidence from Butler is inconclusive then why the **** go down this route??

All the other cases like this are obvious that the player is talking to the ref, by calling them a cheat, etc.

This one the ref isn't even sure what he's said and there are other players within the vicinity. All they know is that he swore within recording distance of a mic... give him a massive fine for that.
