They sometimes have a get out clause if they are offered a head coach role but not sure…

I remember McGuire's omission from Queensland being something of a mystery in the early 2010s. Despite announcing himself as one of the better props in the game back in 2011, he wouldn't debut until 2015. After listening to some of the yarns, it makes you wonder how he ever donned a Maroons jumper at all.

Setting a bunch of frill neck lizards loose inside his team mates hotel the night before a major elim final in what would turn out to be Lockyer's farewell game.

Then the kicker is dressing up in balaclavas with his mates and performing a bunch of break and enters on his 'mates' around the north side.

I could only imagine what was getting back to Mal and the other selectors. Really is a testament to his ability that he was so undeniably talented that they had no other choice but to pick him. He definitely rewarded them as well, Queensland's comeback in JT's final game all started with McGuire's carry.
