Which essentially equates to Broncos starting to take back power from the players and acting like the power club we've forgotten we are.

Disagree on Staggs. I think he had a great year and has more to give. Has had some injuries but is a team player and will give his all. Cobbo has rare talent but generally lazy..doesnt have the Latrell mean streak which makes Latrell unique. Staggs and Mariner in the centres is good. get a 2nd rower to help mariner in defenceAnd a big part of that is dealing with FOMO.
Staggs can also field offers... so his manager could put pressure on broncos as well. Every chance there is a desperate Sydney team that will throw an offer at him and the big question will be if the broncos flinch and pay overs to keep Staggs due to FOMO.
We've been caught in this situation before with Bhunt and Milf... straight after the 2015 GF all the talk was those two being our halves pairing for the next decade... then suddenly Bhunt signs a monster (over-inflated) deal to head to Sydney where he's not done much at club land... broncos reaction to that was to give Milf $1m a season and try to turn him into a halfback, heaping massive pressure on him and watching him fail his way out of the club.
To me neither Staggs or Cobbo really deserve much of an upgrade on their current deal.
I fucking love Staggs, but I have just not seen enough development out of him to warrant much more than what he's currently on... so I can see the club calling his manager's bluff... see if Staggs can get >$700k in the open market, knowing it's down in Sydney so he's paying a premium on his living standards.
Cobbo's form at the back end of the year is way down, but his upside was on show in the first half of the year... he's just about everything you want in a centre.
When compared to Staggs his workrate is better, his hands are silky as ****, he has an offload, he can break tackles and score himself and he can compete on high kicks. When in form his defensive reads are much better as well... and he just has x factor to do freaky shit... didn't he score a try off a grubber right on the dead ball line this year... he's a pure footy player and if you can get his head right he's elite.
He has a lot more upside compared to Staggs, but his attitude is a massive risk with him... if he has a massive preseason then I think Madge will prefer Cobbo over Staggs, knowing he has Mariner as right centre until at least 2027.
I still want to keep both, because I think Staggs can be repurposed elsewhere in the team, but not at elite centre money, but even if we do take Staggs over Cobbo I actually think Staggs could be a left centre... there was a game this year where he had to switch to the left and he was breaking the line much easier when he didn't have his fend there as the default... he also scored that try late in the year when doubling around to the left in a fullback position.
I think Mariner could move into right centre pretty soon
I hate the roosters but boy they're ruthless in their persuit of a premiership. Obviously there's a story behind it but would love to know the real motive? You would think Xaviar would be top of their list of target's and money won't be an issue. If you were a betting man I'd have Xaviar more likely to leave then stay now.
Cobbo being shown the door? No deal tabled
Might want to see what Selwyn does. If he is going to make it, he needs to prove it. If he wants to go for easy money elsewhere, fair enough. It’ll suck to lose him but there are some pretty decent backs available for 2026 right now. Savage is one example. Mulitalo another.
"Broncos miss out on signing Walker again, over $60 Uber" - NRL journosWalker has officially re-signed with the Roosters to 2027.
Brodie Croft reportedly the favourite to replace Ben Hunt at the Dragons
Weird. He's not a 7, he hasn't even been playing 7 in the ESL.
maybe Flanno Jnr will move to seven with Croft at 6
