2024 NRL Player Movements & Rumours

I think I read somewhere that because the Phins didn't utilise their entire cap, for the first two years, they can use a bit extra to sign Hunt.

Not sure if that's correct or not though

You have to spend 95%, the Dolphins have tried to stick to that 95% to give themselves some room if things come up.

Are you sure you are not confusing Rep player Hunt to NRL comp Hunt ?
I have watched him a fair bit . I don`t think he surpasses either SoS or Katoa .

Also he has said repeatedly he doesn`t want to play #9 or #14 .
Hunt's a great player when he has zero expectation to play the role as the go to senior player in a squad or captain and can just focus on his game on the field. The would be buying him on big money to play that role so it will end up disastrously for them and probably hurt Ikat's development (can you see Hunt playing second fiddle to Ikat?).

If Ben comes to Brisbane he has an experienced half next to him who is also the captain of the club to take pressure off him. He could go well at the dogs too given Critter, although young, is a strong leader with several prems on his resume. Rorters the pressure will be insane.

Certainly won't free up enough cash for Hunt but the timing is interesting at least.
I think timing for these latest ones (Tanah, Bhunt, Gutho, etc.) are about preseason starting in about 4 weeks at most clubs.

Get your new club and future sorted out, get your living conditions sorted out, etc. then get yourself lined up to rip in for preseason on day 1.

Some of these players are probably just getting back from their holiday/mandated break as well.

Terrell May leaving the rorters apparently. Was arguably their best middle last year, bizzare choice to let him go.
I think you will find there has apparently been some unpleasant business behind the scenes that has occurred. Rorters are very adept at sweeping things under the carpet. He was on 450k a season so will give them some more play money now too. You blokes better get Willison signed up quick smart, chooks about to make their moves.

100% this. They only recently extended/resigned him so something has likely happened.

He'll probably get an upgrade at one of the clubs that needs FRF. Seen Dogs, Drags and Tigers linked already.

Mate, we know, we've been screaming out to sign X man all year...nothing but crickets. Hopefully things have already been sorted behind the scenes but I doubt it.

This is quite telling.

Did JAC have a drug problem but never addressed it.

The "trust and transparency" is the get out clause for dogs.

They're basically saying "if you do drugs then that's ok, because if you're a good player we want to keep you... however; JAC lied to us so we've sacked him and banked that massive paycheck to spend it elsewhere".

If a player gets caught doing drugs in the future... that might be ok because we have welfare programs... unless they're a shit player on an ugly contract... then they're getting Jniko'd into the sun.

You want to give Mam company on the side(lines)?
If we are keeping mam we should do our best to snap up all the other junkies in the game, at a bargain basement price of course. Not that I'm on the side of sacking him. I don't know what I think tbh, I simply don't care about the game or club as much as I used to anymore. It's true though he came very close to killing people in that accident, look at the size differences in the car, another 5k/hr could have done it. He's a very lucky boy if he doesn't get the sack imo.
