2024 NRL Player Movements & Rumours

Just when you thought they could do worse deals they go ahead and do another one
He would be lucky to get 600K on the open market these days.
No wonder he was so desperate to get out of that eels contract after they said they didnt want him.

Parramatta are reportedly getting cold feet over signing JAC. his asking price is the sticking point.

The Dragons have run into problems trying to lure Croft. While Croft does have an NRL clause in his contract with Leeds, but the date that he had to exercise that clause has passed .... and Leeds aren't prepared to release him for next season

The Courier Mail reporting that JAC has agreed to a two year deal with Parramatta.

They don't say how much the contract is though

He had a bung knee that needed draining late last season .
He still played although he was severely restricted . Get that right and you have an inspirational leader . With 10 years of NRL experience .

I'm not saying its a shit signing, but they overpaid considering there wasn't anyone else really out there that could afford him or want him for that price.

They get some price relief from him being a verteran ?
What price do you put on his work ethic and preparation ? For young players he may be the guy to set standards and mentor ? There is value in that .
If he can get fit 600K is a bargain in my opinion . Smart RnR team puts KPIs in that contract .

Lodge has reportedly reject Manlys two year 300k offer ($150k per year).

He says he can't play for that... Although he says he'll still be in the NRL next year

Surely his father in law can get him another mill a year contract at the new club he just joined.

He's got a point tbf when he says kids are getting given bigger contracts without them proving themselves.

What has he even proved at this point in his career.

The person who has proved themself the most out of his career is his manager... seems like teams are still willing to take a bet on him like he will at some point fulfil his potential.

I don't disagree with him tbh. I'd be interested to know the details and what went on with his previous contract though. Didn't he do his ACL not long after agreeing to terms? Manly were within their rights to not honour his contract but did anyway? Could be wrong

I think Lodge is a pretty solid performer. He's not a superstar by any means, but he's a pretty decent prop when he can stay fit. His fitness is probably why he wont get any decent contracts now.

I was just commenting about his statement about these young guys in the game ( and we have had quite a few of them as well ) who get big contracts without them proving anything. I think its a valid point. Way too many of them get contracts they dont deserve based on potential. They dont have to work their way up the ladder anymore because some stupid recruitment departments are willing to over pay to either keep or recruit anyone remotely promising.

Souths need a prop so probably there, not sure how much they'd have to spend though
