Stamp duty alone would wipe out more than a years worth of contract variance assuming he wants to live in a semi decent houseYour 300 K is more like 120 K after tax and management fees .
Then that 120 K will get chewed up in real estate agent fees just selling and buying another house .
If you were happy staying in Melbourne and you and your family were not keen on Sydney its a pretty simple decision . So yeah nothing suss .
