2025 BRONCOS: BACK TO BACK PRESEASON PREMIERS

I think with Hunt being here we can be afford to be more cautious with Reyno coming back too early.
Round one, he's covering Mam or Mozer, with a cast of thousands queued up for the other. I'd love to see him at 9 with Black at 6, but the odds are long on that.

Yeah, throwing Black @6 for R1 is way too much. He may get his chance from the bench towards the backend of the season.

We as a club, need to play confidently through early rounds and lock in as many W’s as we can leading into Origin. Post Origin, just got to make sure we’re 100% healthy with no issues at all. If we do that, we’ll go a long way towards the backend of the season.

By the way, good to see you back.

You're probably right, in the short term, but I think the more games Black can get under his belt before next season, when he's potentially successor to Reynolds, the better.

But he's more likely to get a run in this first half before Mam returns, while having Hunt and Reynolds there means we're not so reliant on him to steer the ship.

We don't really want to debut him later in the season, when Reynolds inevitably goes down, and/or Hunt is on rep duty, without these two experienced chaperones to ease the pressure.

If we don't debut him soon, we're going to get Madden/Rogers/Walters as experienced stopgaps, and that's building nothing towards the future.

I'm not saying he did anything in the trials to demand selection, or even that he's ready. It's more we need to give him a taste for next year.

Play against men for a while .
Dominate . Then get a run .

You have stars in your eyes bro . Kid has done nothing and you wanna give him a jersey .

This doesn`t pan out buy another #7 .

Stranger things have happened but if Smoothy were to leave early for SL and with Mozer out for a while and Paix rehabbing, Hunt to 9 and Black in is not out of the question

As McHunt said, this would ease him in

I would get Reynold's successor some time in first grade ASAP. It might come sooner than we plan. We do have Hunt as a contingency, but we don't have Mam and we mightn't have Mozer. I'm drawing a line through Madden, Rogers, Walters and Smoothy, with Paix yet to be assessed. I would expect Walters to get some game time this season, but after that, we should be right for that lineage.

If not round one, then in the first 6 rounds.

If Black plays a half a game in one of these trials I might start to believe your theory .
Atm it looks like Jock and Billy are the back up halves .

I never want to see either of those melons wearing 6 or 7 for the Broncos. Enough is enough.

If not Black, then whoever else is earmarked for that position: Latrell, for example.

I was disappointed with how little game time Black got in the Burleigh trial, for some odd reason coaches seem to love Madden. I mean sure he's probably a great bloke and a great trainer but when he's under the bright lights he doesn't set the world alight.

While I agree with you that Black is Reyno's successor, I don't feel as urgent as you do about getting him game time ASAP. With the amount of solid hookers we have along with Hunt & Reynolds in the halves, I reckon that's easily the best option. If injuries happen and one of those 2 go down then yeah sure I'd consider chucking Black in (preferably as long as he's partnering either Reyno or Hunt) but again at the same time I don't think it requires the amount of urgency you think it does. It's not going to make or break him or the club if he doesn't debut in the first 6 rounds. He's still 18 years old and played only 5 cup games, no need to rush

When did you predict Madge?
Precisely when? No clue mate. Just when the discussions around here became about who replaces Kev if he is sacked, Maguire was my first thought. I'm not claiming to be connected or clever, it was just a logic thing.
A) I didn't think they would try another rookie, and B) there was talk the players needed a strong disciplinarian type coach
Maguire was the name that sprang to my mind that ticks those 2 boxes.

Your link which I assume was supposed to prove that, does not. It is just Buzz's 'SHOOSH" From Aug 25 which states a club board is split about what to do and have chosen a potential replacement. But on Sept 2 in an Andrew Reid article, Buzz is quoted as saying "Any talk his job is in jeopardy is out of line" and that "Walters has 12 games next season to turn Brisbane's fortunes around, or potentially face the axe."
Buzz is then further quoted as saying "“If [Walters] can’t get them to play better football I think they’ve got to get someone like Michael Maguire"

So all he did was say IF Walters gets the boot at some point in the future, Maguire would seem to be a good fit. My point is half the forum here said the same thing. It's logic and deduction, not evidence that Buzz has a source or is particularly knowledgeable.

Yes, Buzz played possum after that first column - maybe he got his knuckles rapped - and then a little later doubled down again, well before Kevvie was sacked. I remember that much.

I don't really follow the guy's day to day mutterings, and I don't watch 360, but credit where it's due, he started it.
