2025 NRL General Discussion Thread

If this was to happen it HAS to be an independent doctor.
Problem I see with this, is that some tackles can be worse than others without resulting in a HIA and vice versa. E.g. dumping a player on his head (maybe not result in a failed HIA, but should be a sin bin) vs a player falling into a tackle (which can be more innocent, but result in a failed HIA).

This seems to me like its going to be another failed attempt at a blanket/black and white rule, which will likely be abused, and in reality just needs common sense applied in these situations instead of a new rule.

I just seen the all stars game players and dam both sides will have pretty poor line ups. I more for auckland 9s to be brought back for some real excitement.

Was just reading an article about Shane Flanagan gabbing off again about another player that wants out of the sinking ship.

The "former Broncos bookend" caught me by surprise. I knew he had played for us but couldn't remember how long ago, or where he had been since.

Yep, definitely worth mentioning his long career with the Broncos from 9 years ago!!!

Sex sells and Broncos sells.

Good to see the news cycle back in full swing lol.

I can't remember the player but there was someone who played a year or so for the Broncos before moving to several different clubs after us. He got in some trouble... "Former Bronco" was in the opening paragraph or headline when they reported it. Good times

One that comes to mind is Jamil Hopoate... he constantly gets shown in broncos colours because he was here for a year and played a couple games.

But then they will still talk about Lodge as former bronco and just about anyone that has ever put a jersey on... no other club exists apparently

I find it funny that they're trying to pin up Nathan Cleary as some sort of show piece for the game... he's the best player in the game, but not sure he's the best advertisement of the game.

He's basically Tom Brady... people know about Tom Brady, but his accolades are in the stats and trophies won... not really because of explosive plays or anything.

Cleary is the same. He's not really a highlight reel player... he kills you with a thousand cuts.

They had their highlight reel man there last year in Walsh, but put the Broncos up against a defensive team in rorters.

Would've been better having us play Tigers or Knights where defence is optional.

Knights for the spoon this year.. Though that is a tough one to pick.

I think one mispricing in the market from my point of view would be the Dolphins. The Wayne effect is being fully priced into this one, I think they are a really good chance to make the 8 and are terrible value at favourites for the spoon. Well run club and a spine that's likely to do kind of ok, though clearly not ready for much more than the top 8. Excellent value in their first game against the Bunnies at home also.
