2025 Pre-season discussion. Training the house down.

Everything I hear is from when Mr Trew trundles upstairs or I wander down to the production room and we shoot the shit. I obviously have to be very careful not to betray any trust, and I am sure there is stuff that I'm not told purely because he knows how Broncos crazy I am.

But in regards to the above, the accepted wisdom is that you can't tap out. You do that, you're gone. I haven't heard about anyone tapping out yet.

And if anyone from the Broncos catches wind of me spilling any beans, especially so openly about who I'm hearing it through, might I just add that the Trew family are absolute champion people that can be trusted implicitly. And that, from what we discuss, Bailey is 100% kneck deep in doing what he needs to do to earn a spot. And is probably at home right now, very very sick and sore...
Thanks for the update Mrs Trew

Be safe, brother. Little Nibblies are better than nothing.

Ladies and Gents, not sure if any of you may be interested, but will link it here anyway as it relates to Madge and Troy Thomson.

The Rabbitohs are very proud to announce the release of an exclusive (Russell Crowe produced) 8 episode documentary series showcasing Souths run to the 2014 premiership - Chasing Glory. Only episode 1 has been released so far, but is was a great start to the series. This first episode includes extensive insights from both Madge and Tommo into how they set the season up for success. Episode 2 premieres on Monday. Even if you hate the Bunnies, watch it purely for getting a better understanding and insight into just what makes Madge the coach he is.

**** yeah, Madge. Crack those whips. We tried doing it the nice way, and it failed on the big stage. Twice. Now it's time for the tough toil.

And if the players start getting injured from training what will be the reactions then ?

I’ve seen some snippets of this, looks like a fantastic watch. Will wait until it’s all out.

So true mate, that first episode was a tremendous watch. Just as a footy fan in general (don't worry about it just being a Rabbitohs based production). So interesting to see behind the scenes of what goes on in a NRL club from a pre-season planning perspective etc. What really stood out for me from the first episode was, just the level of intensity and committment that is required to go to that next level of being a real premiership contender..

No offence to some of your blokes, but I feel a player like Cobbo may really struggle under Madge. Put it this way, pre-season alone will go a long way to either making or breaking him as a player. I also think Ben Teo is going to prove to be a tremendous coaching acquisition for your club in terms of his attitude, experience and connection with Madge from their Souths days. Madge has a huge opinion of Ben and I think he will prove to be hugely influential in terms of fixing attitudes amongst the playing group and driving high standards at training required to go to that elite level.

Just as a side note, I hope this series delves into some of Madge's more 'unique' training methods. In his time at Souths, he used things such as baseball bats, photographs of bloodied opposition players and even a python snake to get his messages across

So what you are saying is, the Broncos are going to party like it’s 2014 this year?

If your players are willing to fully committ to the cause, I see no reason why not. It is a big IF though, mind you. Madge will provide the environment, systems and tools. It will be then be up to the playing group and their attitudes in terms of how badly they want it (success).

I think many of our players are screaming out for that environment, those systems and those tools. There will be exceptions of course and that is what it is, but generally you don't get to the NRL without being one competitive MF'er and wanting to reach the pinnacle ie a premiership.

I'm excited.

I wonder what madge is going to do with mariner. I have watched his first half in Samoa vs England and he is playing right centre.

His defence/defensive reads are terrible, and he avoids the hard work. He has taken 3 runs for 17m and 3 tackles (1 missed). If he has done bugger all defence he has no excuse for not going in for hit ups.

Hopefully we get a few ref calls like that Souths team of 2014 got as well.

Mariner is going to have to face The Madgistrate

Honestly feel its wing or bust for mariner, and it may well be bust if hes not willing to bulk up and start taking hit ups as part of a back 3.

He hasn't entered preseason yet, he hasn't really had a chance to bulk up yet. He definitely needs to improve dramatically but I'm excited to see what the new regime can do with all of our guys after such a backward trending season.
