2025 Pre-season discussion. Training the house down.

Also Goodbye my 2025 membership someone already claimed it

Brent read said he had heard something similar for what it’s worth. I don’t think it’s unexpected & not necessarily a bad thing if we are trying to set higher standards.
I just wonder who their source could possibly be. I mean we haven’t even played a trial yet and after how last season went I’m sure the players would take some responsibility for 2024, act professional & try get on board at least at this stage given how early it is.

If we start losing a bunch of games then it could be a rumour I’m more willing to buy, but hearing it right now how early it is into Madge’s tenure makes me feel like it’s a plot from someone who has an agenda trying to cause some noise.

The vibe I get is that the players are taking it more serious this year holding each other accountable & not thinking they are top shit and just going to rock up to the grand final again which is how it was after 2023 in hindsight

- Been a crazy journey for me
- I am resilient, have a great support system with my family, the team got me through
- Maguire has bought in different types of connection
- I had a great preseason up against Cobbo last year, so really trying to push players this year
- I am thinking about my future and life post-footy
- I'm very humbled the club has kept me on
- Everyone needs to complete and fulfil their role in the team and this is the same for Benny (Te Kura)
- The mentality is to just do our job and do it to the best of our ability
- We've looked at people's backgrounds and who they are off the field to build the connections between players
- We are training at a high intensity to bring that on to the field as well
- The goal is to just play my part, I'm one of the more experienced players out there so I want to lead from the front
- Coby is an exciting young talent, Ben Hunt has been great for him
- Everyone has to start somewhere, it is up to Cody if he wants to succeed Reyno
- Maguire is making sure everyone understands they need to earn everything, he isn't just going to hand anything to anyone
- It is going to take 30+ players to win the comp, so we all need to be ready to do our part, whether we've played 300 games like Reyno or 0 like Black
- Tristen Powell has a chance to show he can play multiple positions and like me, if you show you can play multiple roles, it gives you an advantage, so he can play middle or second-row
- The patella tendon rupture in my right knee is between 6-12 months, a similar injury to Connor Watson and he helped me to go through the recovery, I'm 10 months post-injury

Some of those comments about intensity and building personal connections is nice to hear. Everyone earning their spot is also best for business I think too

It's a long season though. Intensity and connections can only get us so far. Hopefully, our skills, decision making, and tactics are also being talked about.
