Shame this for the Phins. They have been the better side all day but they are just running out of steam

Koellner rumbles forward and gives Geyer an opportunity but the Phins defence arrives in numbers. Roache jumps to dummy half finds Mapapalangi who is just too big and strong for James.

Bears with an opportunity to take a late lead with 4 to go.

Awful mistake there from James off the penalty kick and the Bears should be home.

They are and from the jaws of defeat, the Bears have snatched victory. The Dolphins defended so well, but in the end it was the guile of Hamilton who woke the Bears up.

The Phins very unfortunate in defeat. They were the better team through out the contest but just couldn't put the Bears away when they had their chances.

QRL will be heartbroken, no Dolphins at Kayo Stadium next week.

Dolphins better team for 70 minutes but Bears stayed in it. Resilient win tough win but gee they will have to be better to beat Norths next week.

Though Koellner got better as the game went on and came up with his runs at the end.

Losing 2 players in the game on top of the players already missing just took its toll in the end. Oloapu not being fit enough to play more than one short stint hurts as well when that happens.

It's just in the Dolphins DNA to turn up for the finals. They just thrive in do or die sudden death and they relish the pressure.

Bears were their own worst enemy and everything we expected out of them in the lead up completely blew up in their face. Koellner produced one of his worst stints of the season and the Phins just completely owned the middle until De Luis came onto the field.

Koellner was much better in his second stint and the winning try all came off the back of his work through the middle.

The thing about the Bears, they've rarely produced 80 minutes all year. They've been in plenty of games where they've been uncomfortable and found ways to win. On the big stage when it mattered most they produced the goods.

I'm with 1910, I expect Norths to go through save a Selwyn Cobbo master-class.

Poor Gavin Allen was sad looking today, thought Josh was pretty good and is too young to be going to France.

He is only 24 and I always thought he was worth a pre-season somewhere.

Tugan 30
Bears 26

Bears won 18 straight to make the Grand Final- beaten by four.

McConnell a double which is a bright side.

Prelim day!

Norths have won their last 10 finals games and fourth prelim in five years. You can't buy that experience and in the end it will be too much.

Only 6/17 players today won last year and Moseley the only one in the pack. Another three have won with Norths before.

Norths defence is just too good, and they take chances when they get it- their defence is so good they only need three chances.

Bukowski v the Moseley is good stuff, I don't know if Norths are going to give Bukowski the space that Ipswich did. Reminds me of Mozer v Politoni from 23. Real master and apprentice stuff. Mozer got two tries against the great man.

Cobbo is obviously the unknown, he could easily score three tries if he's in the mood- Madden and Sutton have to get him the ball and sense if the defence is leaving space for them to exploit.

Wynnum have to start fast and be 14-0 like the Dolphins did but then hang on another eight minutes somehow. That's where I think they will come undone. Norths like the Bears will find a way.

You're off the pace when Ahearn is out-running everyone to score from a kick.

Norths 6-0.
