OFFICIAL 2025 State of Origin - Game I Discussion

She is something else. Almost as top notch as Mark Nicholls mrs. Yeah I saw the interview about the bible haha. He did admit he was having a beer though so not a complete can of paint.
He named his kid Hercules King.... definitely at least a half full can of paint.

Puke at Sexton in a SoO jersey.
We need to explore every option to get Hammer to fullback.
Howarth, when he's back, with Toia as centres, Dearden at 7 and Hammer at 1.
Grant was underdone , Dearden should have come on before hamftime.
Considering we had 39% possession in the first half and all the dumb penalties we gave we were never getting back in it.

We should hand the team to Tom.
100% agree.

Hammer at back will inject him into the game. Ponga was bog average. Walsh just gets smashed at origin level.

Bring Savage in on the left wing.

Howarth would be good to pair with him, failing that, Tass might be worth a look - I don't like him but every time I see him playing, he's doing pretty well.

Bring in Horsburgh and maybe Sua.

Halfback is a real tough one though - I want DCE gone, he's past it. But who the **** is there? Clifford? Fogarty? Sexton? Walker (hasn't played all year but returning in the next week or two)?

Everything is so ****ing dire right now... NSWRL won and they'll be sweeping origin soon enough as well
Eh, they said the same thing in 2018.

They may go back to back but things change quickly in this sport.

Granted, it's been awhile since I've enjoyed an Origin. Even 2023 felt like it was under duress and I had to watch Klein keep NSW in it as best as he could.

Hey hey don't sleep on sexy. Avoiding his failures at Titans he has proven to be a stable game managing half and he has looked great for doggies, was in rep football at young ages and was looked at for being the future as a young footballer and played for QLD in juniors. If a proper team developed him at a young age this bloke would have a very different reputation imo

Origin used to be ref'd different. Now it's all the same - Panther-ball all the time. Walk 5m off the mark to try and get the defenders pinged for a six again trying to stop you. Give away deliberate six agains when your own defensive line isn't set. Only ever get back 8m and leave early all night to the point where the ref gives up trying. And they just keep getting away with it.

Fogarty is the best option but that seems a lateral move. His kicking game would be a godsend. Dearden with his kicking game would be perfect but yeah that is the issue with dropping DCE. The one thing Dearden struggles with.

The dogs were dropping him for Hayward lol I think he is just average.

If they're gonna go with new halves, I think Slater should consider Jayden Campbell. I'm a big believer in his talent

Might need to look at starting Kurt Mann too at hooker. That's the stage we are at because Harry Grant is too busy getting trampled and having the aerobic capacity of ****ing jerry roll after 6 cans of bourbon

I forgot about Jai Arrow. Another dude that Slater just does not seem to like but he has mongrel as a bench guy. You don't always have to be a boy scout. You don't have the option of a spine bailing you out anymore. Pick some of these guys. Loreiro, Collins and Fermor. Yuck. And ffs stop playing cotter as a backrower. Start him at lock and push carrigan into the front row.
What has Cotter done to even deserve selection? It seems like the team is contorted to fit him in when he really hasn't done anything special at club level and is now getting physically dominated at origin level.

He has been pretty good at club level. But they don't play him like that in origin. He isnt an edge. He would ideally be leg speed off the bench in the middle but there isn't much better banging the door down. His size becomes a problem at times. I agree. I just don't think they are using him right

Ragdolled by critter a few times.... a prop... smashed 1:1 by a centre.... we might as we'll put Sua in for him and at least get some aggression if we want a little forward.

Or better yet, bring in the Ranga and tell him to go hard. He might give away a couple of penalties, but we're doing that anyway for no real damage.

I don’t care about origin anymore but I do care about lists. Qld should manufacture a 9 and Dearden can tackle, put him there and give the team to Fogarty. Modern league is terrible and is basically force ‘em backs. The best Qld 7 right now for that is Fogarty and it isn’t even close. He can also defend.

Go with this:
1. Munster
2. Coates
3. Toia
4. Howarth
5. Savage
6. Mam
7. Fogarty
8. Tino
9. Dearden
10. Carrigan
11. Nanai
12. Fifita
13. Cotter

14. Grant
15. Horsbrough
16. Arrow
17. Finefuiaki

Fixed it for our peacefulness.

6. Trindall
10. Collins/Mo/somene else.

Leave Patty all together. He better stay out of the next 2 games.

How good is it? No Bronx players in an Origin side. Let them focus(I mean learn really) on playing some footy first.
