By all reports Shibasaki has been killing it this pre-season so this is reward for that, a chance for him to show he should be in the starting side.

I still think Mariner gets the centre spot though.

I'll be surprised if Shibasaki ends up in the 17 ahead of Mariner.
I think Mariner picked up a minor back injury late against the Titans.
You don't leave that kind of speed on the sidelines IMO.

Mariner, like Piakura never really earned their spots. They were handed it way too early.

If Gos and Shiba have out trained, shown more dedication, bought in more, than in good with sending the message regarding what will be rewarded.

Though at some point, talent does overwrite that and it can look unfair

First look at who the starters will be.

Shibasaki and Gosiewski in with the starting squad is really interesting. Piakura and Mariner have to earn their spots in the starting team, I think (and hope) at least one of them will be back with the first stringers by Round 1.

Seems like Hetherington has won that 13 jersey. Haas, Carrigan and Hetherington along with Jensen and Te Kura is easily the most powerful middle rotation in the league. We should be steamrolling teams down the middle, especially when Hunt is pulling the string from dummy half.

you missed WIllison in that forward rotation - interesting to see if Jensen or BTK gets the other spot - experience off the bench compared to size and beast mode

Mariner will no doubt be a better player if he gets another 15 + Q cup games under his belt before before being a full time first grader. Both from the experience but also from the standards it sets..

It’s a no brainer in my mind, again though, the risk is that Shiba is under a lot of pressure to justify it.

Mariner is signed until 2027, we have time to prioritise his development

Not sure... I think Goates was always #2 but played on the left even though Staggs was #3

I'm hoping Cobbo lines up on the left... it's his natural side
