When you think about it. The alternative is potentially mariner, mam, piakura and cobbo all on the one edge. That would have to be the dopiest edge ever in all forms of football.

Yeah and I think that's could be one of the things that Madge is trying to avoid... although Bhunt will be there for the first 9 rounds.
Also Piakura is very likely to be on the bench in the 17 jersey... so if he does lose his starting spot I think he still makes the bench... and he was awesome in that role in 2023.
There is a huge lack of speed on that left edge though... it's basically just Cobbo.

I can halfway cop Gosiewski, we need an edge defender if nothing else. Piakura was found wanting there last year.
Shibasaki is going to have to win over a few fans, he's been given plenty of opportunities throughout his career. I don't know how serious the Bulldogs will be taking it but they torched our edges last year in the regular season so there will be a bit of pressure on.

Mariner will be first choice I think, I don't think we would have the likes of Shiba at centre in a full strength team round 1 barring injuries, still think Cobbo Should be there next to Hunt though, as Mariner will score just as many tries as Cobbo would at wing just with his speed, while Cobbo could do wonders with an experienced player next to him at centre.

Suggest you not watch the trial, then. There aren't many round one positions in play.
To update you: over the off-season, the club has signed one former player and recalled another from the wilderness, who both replicate and uprgrade Billy. The player who looked like the future of the hooking position in the few games he played last season, is out injured, and one of the halves is suspended, which means the hooker we bought will need to cover him.
The utility position is still up for grabs, to be determined tomorrow. It's Billy's to lose.
If that's not a talking point, I don't know what is.

I'm really excited to see if Paix backs up last week and I am pretty confident he will. He has been more than made to earn this spot, he will not be taking it for granted and man, how good did he look last week. This is a step up in opposition, so if he can play like that again, he has that 9 jersey sewn up and it means that neither Mozer or Mam walk back into the side which is great, you want players to earn their spots back, especially Mam.
