2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

So if he’s going to get a fine or something next time he criticises the refs, he may as well go big

Listened to a clip of Paul Kent's new podcast he has dropped with Reed Mahoney and Jacob Kiraz, 2 parter about dogs going from last to first.

Kiraz talked about how they sat and watched clips of their team/teammates being bullied, and talked about how they always got bullied by teams but had sort of come to accept it, heads pushed into ground etc, elbows, the works. He said in the clips it was highlighted how teammates could be seen standing around and watching it happen, again because it was accepted.

Will probably give the full thing a listen later, probably something in this for the Broncos really... We could definitely use some toughening up.

That's interesting, i might give that a listen. Good for them they acknowledged it and fixed it.

We have been bullied for years and it sucks. Was hoping Maguire would have corrected this similar to NSW last year who bullied the shit out of Qld but we don't seem any different, if anything we seem softer.

To be fair we don't have (m)any natural 'tough' players. Our backs are the softest in the comp, bad times when Shibs is the hardman of the backline.

I've been banging on about this for the last 4 or 5 seasons.

Incidents like Billy W#alters getting dog shot and our players doing zilch to address it, indeed Staggs never even stopped to check on his own player.

When Piakura had his head used as 'keepy up' practice with that dog's knees there should have been an all in brawl. Doesn't matter if we have no enforcer, all the more reason to stick together as a team and go in in numbers.

And I mean no handbags either make sure we snot the offender good and proper and keep it up for two or three games and cop the suspensions. The opposition will soon get the message that the Broncos are no longer the soft touch to be bullied at will.

The first sign of the opposition rubbing one of our players faces into the dirt we go in en masse (once that play has broken down of course if we are on the attack).

I'm sick to death of seeing our guys being pushed in the back and copping cheap shots without the ref or our guys doing anything.

Someone needs to say something and then the team needs to back them up.

Tigers board apparently to meet this afternoon to discuss releasing Galvin early...

Could have sworn they said they wouldn't be doing that. Things change bro?

Edit: Apparently it's Monday. Lame

June 30 deadline is 6 weeks away... they might be lining someone else coming to them

Interesting. So the wording is they were trying to gain an advantage. Not just for touching the ball, which they can't do, they believed water was going to gain an advantage..

they've said that ... but they'll 100 % release him if they get the right player in return.

They won't release him for nothing as his wage isn't big enough to make that worthwhile.

so the only question is, can a club come up with the right trade offer before the deadline or if they'll have to wait until next season to get Galvin

Burton or Sexton ?

The NRL have reportedly interviewed Brad Arthur and Mal Meninga for the Perth job.

THey have also approached Kevvie Walters and added him to a 4 man shortlist

Burgess the other contender. Arthur is still favourite

Why is the NRL selecting who the coach is??
