When it comes to Sexton and no one going after him I think it could be because he doesn't have an elite long kicking game... and by elite it's basically needing someone that has a huge boot.
The territory battle is so important nowadays because the refs basically don't call yardage penalties... so teams are needing halves that have a massive boot to flip the field position.
Hugo doesn't really do anything for rorters except pump it long... and they need him there to kick because Walker has a pop gun kick.
Sexton worked at dogs because all the long kicking was done through Burton... and is still done through Burton even though Galvin has the 7 jersey on. So he was there to organise and he provided short kicking... but even then short kicking isn't as valuable anymore because of the short dropout.
So halves need to have a long boot and the game management or contribute points... Sexton was only providing the game management, but a component of the game management is the kicking game, which he wasn't contributing with.
He'll probably kill it in the ESL and then turn that into a decent contract back in the NRL.
All junior halves coming through need to focus on being able to kick it long... you'll have a place in the game if you can kick it long and make your tackles
