POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

Still love Origin and I support Queensland as much as the Broncos.

I want the Maroons to win and I wouldn't pick that many Broncos.

Toss-up at fullback between Walsh and Ponga. Would lean towards Walsh off the back of a premiership year but both would be in my extended squad.

Patty has always played his best for Queensland off the bench so I'd be tempted to do that. Bring him on fresh and have him play long minutes.

Piakura would have been a benchie for me as well as a loose-forward/second row.

Otherwise I haven't been that impressed. The Broncos best prospects are all Kiwis and guys like Mam, Shibasaki, Hunt have played themselves out of contention. Even coming through Mozer and Te Kura haven't progressed and so now the focus is largely on Francis.

Walsh snubbed according to CM, hopefully that means he's not even on the bench.

But probably the most baffling selection call is CM reporting Ponga will be halfback...... A fullback that's not a halfback being selected to play halfback.

Yea there's a rumour that it'll be Wlash on the bench, Hammer at fullback, and Ponga at 7.

Sounds stupid to me.

Walsh not selected... I'll allow it.

Will at least motivate him to remove the bubble wrap

If Ponga is moving into the halves then having Walker on the bench is smart, as when Ponga plays in the halves he gets knocked out in about 5 minutes ... Just ask the Knights

Seems strange but given Billy nailed every big call last year probably worth giving him the benefit of the doubt

Shiba is a head scratcher. Not sure how Toia is going to go against Latrell either but I guess there's no one else.

Ponga's left boot on the right is also strange.

Jojo and Cobbo are good selections, can match blues power game from the wings

Surely Finefeuiaki is picked. He's the form second rower behind Haumole

Shiba keeping his spot and Ponga at 7 is cooked if true.
Ponga at 1 and Hammer at left centre with Clifford or Fogarty at 7.
I was really looking forwards to this year's SoO but a few forwards haven't been at their best or close to it really.
Coates is a big out. Howarth has gone backwards.

Tino
Flegler
Carrigan
Cotter
Collins
Gilbert
is a good middle on paper but not so much on field so far.
I thought for sure Luki or Finefeuiaki would get a run as well.
Slater might be playing silly buggers with the press, lets hope.
