It's hilarious seeing the media spin around this to the point where it seems consensus has somehow agreed that a send off was correct, or at least justifiable/reasonable.
It really can't be argued that it's anything but a sin bin. There's too many mitigating factors. A send off is for an offence that is so egregious that a player does not deserve the right to continue playing the game, and would be called if it happened in the 1st minute of the game or the 79th minute of the game.
It's a worse sin bin that most sin bin offences, but you can't just magically upgrade it to a send off because it happened in the 57th minute and would lead to an "entertaining" final quarter of the game. If you're not certain you'd call it in the 1st minute of a game, then its not a send off
