POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

It's hilarious seeing the media spin around this to the point where it seems consensus has somehow agreed that a send off was correct, or at least justifiable/reasonable.

It really can't be argued that it's anything but a sin bin. There's too many mitigating factors. A send off is for an offence that is so egregious that a player does not deserve the right to continue playing the game, and would be called if it happened in the 1st minute of the game or the 79th minute of the game.

It's a worse sin bin that most sin bin offences, but you can't just magically upgrade it to a send off because it happened in the 57th minute and would lead to an "entertaining" final quarter of the game. If you're not certain you'd call it in the 1st minute of a game, then its not a send off

Didn`t tuck his arm though ....
Didn`t run at full pace across the field before hitting Oates .
Ponga had more time and space to change his body position .

Not apples and apples bro .

The arm doesn't have to be tucked anymore. That rule changed years ago... You only need to lead with the shoulder now.

Drinkwater was charged with a Grade 3 shoulder charge.

The speed the player is going makes no difference. Ponga wasn't sent off because of the speed he was going, he was deemed to have made direct forceful contact to the head and Klein felt a shoulder charge to the head was send off worthy. But yet not a send off at club level...

What would make you happy, @tommy?

Did you have a particular amount of time in mind between the two that you would deem acceptable?

Or perhaps the anthem should not have been sung at all?

What point are you actually trying to make?

That it was ironic. I literally said that.
Why has it got you all flustered?

Not flustered at all @tommy

You asked a question, I answered it

You pushed back with 'look again'

I don't find it ironic, mate; just get over it

I'm wondering if irony was even the correct descriptor.......???

Think Stephen Colbert GIF by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

100% agree
This is the thing, if that EXACT same thing happened in the first minute, there is JUST NO WAY Klein sends KP off.

I have no doubt that Klein let the emotions of the game and the moment get the better of him.

Two things .
He was reckless and injured the opposition as well as himself .
How was he able to play on the weekend after that head clash ? If it was forceful enough to split his ear like that . His brain most probably bounced inside his skull . Causing brain injury .

That is the kind of incident that could come back to bite the clubs and NRL on the bottom when the eventual court case happens .
