POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

Can I get a count on how many people in this thread are finished/out/gone/quitting rugby league forever?

Nah. I don't like what the sport has become but I just can't help myself. I certainly don't watch it as much as I used to and it's got nothing to do with how we're going either. Even last year when we went on the run I was still only really watching our games (unless there was an obvious great match up in the round) and didn't really mind if I missed the first 15mins or so. Whereas in the past I'd be home in front of the TV with time to spare. I also used to watch 90% of the games.

Unsurprisingly, the game started to lose it's appeal for me in 2020 with the introduction of the 6 again. I understand we've been the beneficiary of it in games at times but I don't care, I preferred the game without it.

I just saw this picture that was used for aritcle. I wonder what haas is doing with his forearm there? Qld mustn't of had momentum at this point, so no one official noticed

I don't understand how people watch Kalyn Ponga, and think he's anything other than an overated hack.

Far from the worst player on the park imo. Played a big role in QLD's first two tries.

There were a lot of happy NSW fans around me when he was taken off. Billy should have hooked a few others.

Not forever necessarily. Vlandys dropping dead would entice me back to see if footy is salvageable from what he has done to the game. Klein dropping dead would also help.

Otherwise its a yes. It is not the game I grew up loving.

Cmon man..............Payne was just defending himself in the tackle from a.......errrmmmm bigger and stronger player. 🙄

Steady on there old top. It's not just PvL by himself, he's only there because of those who appointed him. Although I'm still a bit bemused at how this offscouring from the murky backblocks of the racing world somehow fetched up as NRL overlord.

As far as officiating goes, I'm not sure if some sort of reform in that space was a part of the Super League agenda, but I do wonder if that was a missed fork-in-the-road for the game. I'd have liked to have seen a recruitment/development program that offered 7-figure remuneration packages - at least comparable to truly elite players - to those rare individuals who possess that elusive combination of deep knowledge of the laws of the game with pragmatic common sense. Perhaps Bill Halligan had his quirks but as I remember it, with him there was some sense that things were under control.

Munster has surely played his last Origin....
He was fairly ordinary this game, but he was far from alone.

I thought he was ok in game 1 and very good in game 2. If he hadn't had to go off for a HIA in game 2, more than likely goes close to MOTM.

True. In another year though? He's been regressing for a couple of years now IMO. Club and State.

Not while Billy is coach

Valid points. Was more wishful thinking on my part.

This is the worst series. Cleary is now considered origin goat, article about how the world owes Daley an apology as if he’s this great coach. Rugby league is the worst sometimes.

Hasn't munster dropped off a cliff. Its crazy to see these running playmakers drop remarkably as they age and pick up injuries.

Also interesting to hear walsh show some interest in a move to the halves at some point. Could be a damaging 6 that plays both sides of the field.

Broncos watch from this game

Haas - 9/10. That was easily the best Payne performance in origin. That is the Payne we should get every week at the broncos. Offloads and occasional wide running. He dominated with every run.

Walsh - 7/10. Other than the fact he didn’t actually have an involvement in a moment, he definitely added some spark. Obviously was given the instructions to just run, was making some inroads and some 1/3rd chances.

Carrigan - 0/10 & 10/10. No missed tackles, no errors, was flawless. But at the same time failed to make any meaningful impact on the game.
Good to see Trent Lol get more minutes than Carrigan

It's disappointing, especially with the Broncos sucking butt too. Would have been more disappointing if QLD actually played well and got robbed despite that though. They were pretty crap for the most part.
Surely they can't have Klein reffing anymore though. QLD should admit being the worse side but push for Klein and whoever was in the Bunker to **** off.

Well that happened in Game 1... last night should've been a dead rubber, but Qld were effectively forced into trying to win the series 3-0... which has been extremely rare in the last 20 years or so.
