4 nations

Sheens has certainly disappointed in every aspect so far, and I didn't have any expectations of him.

Flutterby, why you think Watmough should get dropped? He is dangerous with the ball and solid enough in defence.

Personally I've never seen the appeal of Watmough, I can actually not remember a game in which he impressed me and he didn't really do much in the first test that I saw.

Watmough statistics wise running was easily our best forward in game one and was easily the best on the field in game 3 of Origin. I think he is a turd sandwich but he has to be there and he has to start.

You're funny! You write Parker off as not being an 80 minute player despite the "stats" about tackles and hit ups he's done this year. Yet you praise Watmough based on statistics.

Watmough is so hit and miss. He can be good one game, then shit for 6 weeks. I didn't even notice him on the weekend.

His runs were excellent he constantly got his head through the line. Parker when playing as a 80 minute lock will flop his way to 45 tackles and make 10 insipid runs. I don't rate him generally but his last two rep performances warrant him being in the starting side.

Agreed Je$ter. For a coach of his experience, Tom Shines is easily one of the worst coaches going round (as his recent work at Wests has shown). The selection of Farah is just stunning.

IMO Sheens is a bit of a myth in general. I heard from a former staffer at Canberra that his game plan was basically "Mal, Loz, Ricky...just do your thing".

He's succeeded mainly because of the players he's had and been able to just let them play off the cuff and it can work. Give him a team of nuffies (like North Queensland were) and he's hopeless.

Too true.

Any team with Mullins, Meninga, Clyde, Daley and Stuart these days would win premierships no worries.

It makes sense too Coxy, because watching the Tiggers play they play off the cuff all the time and against strucutred teams and good defensive teams they are hopeless.

Yep. And their sweep to the 2005 premiership was simply based on all their good players being in form, full of confidence and the bounce of the ball going their way. It's not like there was any great strategic genius in it.

Yep 2005 was just a steam roll of attacking form where they just out scored the hell out of everyone. Sheens has never done much for me and I loath the strategy of having a hooker on the bench, put farking Luke Lewis on there and you have a player who can play every single position except prop and you still have room for 3 genuine forwards.

I'm with you 100%. Farah will be an absolute waste on the bench just as Gidley was shown to be last week. Both are fine players but offer no impact and waste a spot that we could be using for a forward. Lewis can be used in this role if there are no injuries. Hopefully Sheens sees this and drops Farah and Gidley from the extended bench.

And that is the beauty of Luke Lewis, he is a top quality second rower/lock in his own right let alone his utility value. Sheens is completely incompetent if he doesn't pick him. I feel a bit sorry for Gidley because his versatility is his worst enemy at rep time, he either doesn't get a spot or gets stuck on the bench until the 70th minute.

is there a judiciary / tribunal during the four nations?
ie. was gallen cited at all for his face plant on isaac luke?
were any of the high shots charged?

if anyone should be dropped it's gallen, he was useless just like in origin - forcing offloads and dropping the ball.

better then Hoffman or White, I don't like Gallen but he is what our team needs, since Crocker wasn't picked

im gonna make Baby jesus cry here and say i agree. Gallen needs to stay

Yep you need players who fire up in reo games, and with no Crocker around Gallen is the ideal replacement.

Not a big fan of Sheens either but he 'does' have the experience... whether this is actually useful in today's game or even the test arena... I have no idea.

On Watmough - look, the guy is a gun player... you can't deny that but his consistency is really shocking... not sure if he warrants a starting spot in the test side but anywho...

IMO 1-10 picks itself naturally but the 11-17 are some of the weirdest and strangest decisions I've seen for a test side EVEN for the last game. Possibly due to the variety of different players and with diff styles available... can't please everyone I guess. Certainly not near the 11-17 I'd go for...

To me a gun player isn't one who CAN be a gun player when he feels like it. A gun player is a gun player most of the time, and it's only off days or great defence from the opposition that shuts them down.

Watmough is simply an ordinary player who is capable of a red hot game on occasion. He wouldn't present any fear for the Poms or Kiwis. At all.
