Earthquake damage in Christchurch has forced the Anzac rugby league Test to be relocated to Queensland.

The match was scheduled to be played in Christchurch on May 5 but the New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) decided on Friday to relocate to Skilled Park on the Gold Coast.

The NZRL said both it and the Australian Rugby League were committed to returning the Anzac test to Christchurch in 2012.

It is going to be massive, particularly because it will mean we can have a ROO CREW bay at a Test Match on the Gold Coast.

Also a double blockbuster will be a powerful weapon against the AFL.

Terrible for Christchurch to lose it, but they werent in a position to host it. But Rugby League will return to help rebuild that great city.

Is there a reason they wouldn't shift it to Auckland or Wellington? (not having a go, just curious)

More Kiwi's on the Gold Coast than both those cities combined.

Call me a Suncorp fanboy, but move it 1 hr up the M1 and get 30,000 more people to the game? Donate the proceeds for those additional 30,000 people to the relief appeal?

The ARL have also moved the game to the Gold Coast to help battle the AFL who are dumping millions into destroying Rugby League down there. International rugby league is a powerful weapon against them.

This coupled with the Titans v Warriors game clashes with the Lions v Sun Burns game.

And hopefully Scott Prince will get a 7 Green and Gold.

And as it has been said, lots of Kiwis here. And we had a flood relief game at Parramatta for Queensland floods. This move is also about bringing an event to Queensland after the disaster.

And so he should be IMO. Lockyer, Thurston, Carney...hell, you could argue that even Cronk should be there before him.

Wellington has a rugby game that night, and they have to play the test on a Friday night due to the NRL scheduling. Not too sure about Auckland though.

We've had our tickets reimbursed, didnt have travel insurance so we lost out on flights and accom with ChCh. Jet Star have looked after us and given us a good price to the Gold Coast though, so were heading over and will catch the Warriors/Titans too. It looks like Melbourne are playing Brisbane at Suncorp too, so hopefully will be able to catch that game too.
